Purpose

• For deployments in excess of 60 days;

• Annual entitlement, if used on SOUTHPLOY, cannot be used again in F/Y;

• Intended to provide assistance, and not necessarily cover the entire cost; and

Purpose - continued

• In a reversed LTA, it is the NOK or spouse of the member who travels to a location where the member is employed for service reasons.

Requirements

• A minimum of one day’s paid leave must be taken;

• If returning home, Leave Pass must be stamped;

• For reverse LTA, ticket stubs should be kept;

Requirements - continued

• The member must be reunited with the first applicable NOK; and

• Members shall utilize the most economic means of transportation (NOT 1st Class).

Calculation

• The maximum under this benefit will be a coast-to-coast calculation for personnel whose next of kin reside in Victoria and from the location of the next of kin to the farthest coast for all other personnel.

• Direct Road distance from Victoria, BC to St-John’s, NF = 7205 km

• (((7205 * 2) + 77 + 348) – 800) * 0.16 = $2,245.60

Calculation - Example #2

• NOK in Winnipeg, MB

• Direct Road distance from Winnipeg, MB to St-John’s, NF = 4821 km

• (((4821 * 2) + 348) – 800) * 0.16 = $1,470.40
