HLS is based on four aspects: Prepardness, protection, response and recovery, which are the same core components harnessed in emergency management for unintentional and natural disasters. Natural disasters and crisis situations have gone head to head with the war and terror.

More people have been killed worldwide by natural disasters this year than have been killed by terrorism attacks in the past 40 years combined. Earthquakes, floods,tsunami’s,fire’s,hurricanesanddrought’shave been devastating and the damage ensued led to crisis situations of unfathomable heights.

The Ministry of Homefront Defence has joined forceswithISDEFandwillbetheofficialspon-sor and host of the conference led by the Minister himself, General Matan Vilnai. The focus of the Homefront Defence Conference will be: Safe City, Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management. The speakers in-clude leading decision makers from the Israeli Government, senior officials from theMinis-try of Defence and top ranking Generals from the military. This conference will take place on October 31st following the Opening Day Ceremony of ISDEF 2011.

November 1st

The world renowned International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) will host the conference on November 1st. The ICT is the leading academic institute for counter-terror-ism and HLS in the world. Among the founders are Executive Director, Dr. Boaz Ganor, Head of the Homeland Security Study Programs at the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya, Israel, and Shabtai Shavit, former Head of the Mossad, Israel’s Intelligence Services. Speak-ers include leading security experts and deci-sion makers from Israel and abroad who spe-cialize in counter-terrorism and HLS.

Israel Defence is proud to announce the first annual ISDEF conference series. This is a huge achievement, and solidifies ISDEF’s place in the world as a leading event for defence and homeland security. The conference series will take place on October 31st and november 1st.
