An increasing number of YHKCC graduates are choosing to study overseas HKDSE – Preferred route for students intending to continue their education in Hong Kong GCE – Preferred route for students intending to continue their education overseas
PROMOTION TO FORM 5
The curriculum is designed so that all students can, if they wish, either continue with their HKDSE studies in Forms 5 and 6, or study GCE A-levels

However, promotion to Form 5 is not automatic – there are certain minimum requirements and expectations … academic performance during Form 4 attendance average effort
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Students applying for the either the HKDSE or the GCE curriculum are expected to satisfy certain general criteria …
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
A level of attainment and mock exam result of grade C or better in each subject to be studied in Forms 5 and 6
At least five IGCSE passes at grade C or above
IGCSE Grade B or better is preferred in the subjects to be studied in Forms 5 and 6
All applicants are expected to have a good academic reports and attendance record
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Additional requirements for GCE applicants: Students wishing to study GCE A-levels in
Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics must have taken the IGCSE examination at the Extended level
Students wishing to study GCE A-level English Language & Literature must have studied IGCSE First Language English at the Extended level
GCE A-LEVEL PROGRAMME
There are at most 80 spaces available on the GCE A-level programme
EDB requirement – the number of students taking GCE A-levels must not exceed the number enrolled in the HKDSE curriculum
Applications can only be accepted subject to entrance requirements being met and places available on the requested courses
MAKING THE CHOICE
HKDSE or GCE? If you choose HKDSE, then you simply need to
choose which two electives you will continue to study in Forms 5 and 6
If you choose GCE, then you need to decide
which four subjects you would like to study in Form 5
MAKING THE CHOICE
For GCE applicants the choice depends on: - which course your daughter/son wants to
study at university - what career s/he intends to pursue - her/his interests and strengths - timetabling constraints

MAKING THE CHOICE
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applicants are required to submit the following documents by Friday 6th February:
The completed Application Form An Application Letter for each HKDSE elective
(blue x2) or each GCE A-level subject (green x4)
Registration fee of $100 (new students only) Photocopy of students’ and parents’ HKID
card and/or passport (new students only)
APPLICATION PROCESS
New applicants will be invited to school (with their parents) for an admission interview
Applicants may be required to take a benchmark test on Saturday 21st March to assess their suitability to study a particular subject in Forms 5 and 6
Late submissions will not be considered
APPLICATION PROCESS
If your application is successful, you will receive one of two types of offer of a place: a General Offer or a Conditional Offer (depending on IGCSE examination results and other factors)
If you do not meet the entrance requirements, you may be waitlisted or may need to repeat Form 4
We will inform you of the status of your application on or before Wednesday 22nd April
APPLICATION PROCESS
To accept the offer, simply pay the non-refundable registration fee of $2,800 (HKDSE) or $5,200 (GCE) by Wednesday 13th May.
The deposit will be used for payment of school fees in September.
SUBJECT PRESENTATIONS
More detailed information about the content of HKDSE elective subjects in Forms 5 and 6, and each of the GCE A-level subjects offered will be given in a series of 20 minute presentations starting at 7:35 pm
