    HISTORY OF THE NURSING HOME

Tabitha Home started 1st march 1981 with three clients at Friars Hill Road property with two

bedrooms. The idea of our own community nursing home was spawned by a dedicated group led

passionately by bro.Alpha Josiah together with Mother Gardner. In 1984 they moved to Dry Hilllocated now housing 12 beds. In 1995, five acres of land at Gilberts was allotted for new facility

nd a ground breaking ceremony for a purpose built home was held but regrettably, this has not

materialized to date. Thus finally in 2003, the Pastors Manse at Upper Gambles was converted

and made out current base of operations housing 12 bed facility which presently hosts 9 female

and 3 male clients whom are a married couple. We have tried to make the setting as comfortableand dignified as possible for our clients, however we are cramped for space especially in the

common eating and sitting areas because all our patients are ambulant; thus when we have

devotion some are forced to sit in the dinning room; we have been trying to work within the

space available but as you know our clients jin us at various stages of dependence andindependence.

The home is a 12 bedded facility located in Upper Gambles close to the back of Christ the King.

The home is run by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mrs Silvia Ham-Ying and Assistant CEOMrs C Edwina Carter. Both are experienced Registered Nurses who provide oversight of the

care given to residents. The home is staffed by caring, committed nurses, care attendants and

other support staff. Medical care is provided by a qualified doctor who reviews each residentmonthly and provides emergency medical support. The staff resident ratio (1:6), is excellent and

we pride ourselves in providing a high standard of care for our residents.
