Henry Ford (1863 - 1947)

Henry Ford was born on July 30,

1863 in Springwells Township, WayneCounty, Michigan

At 15, he built his first steamengine and before long wasemployed as an apprentice

mechanic in Detroit.

On June 16, 1903, Henry Ford andeleven associates founded the FordMotor Company in Detroit with aninitial capital of $ 28,000

From 1909 to 1927, the Ford MotorCompany built more than 15 millionModel T cars. Henry Fordtransformed the economic andsocial fabric of the 20th century.

The evolution of the model "T" was parallel to the evolution of the company .During

1917 started manufacturing tractors and trucks and there was the birth of Henry Ford Il, son

of Edsel

In 1919, Henry Ford purchased the remaining shares that were held by its partners on

behalf of his son Edsel, who took over the presidency of the society

In May 1927, the company built the last Tin Lizzie, the number 15.007.033,

record only beaten by Volkswagen many years later

Constructed a new model called A, which was a transition model

On February 28, 1932 ended the production of the Ford A and 9 March the same year

left the assembly line the first Ford V8.

In 1939 the need for a range of intermediate models between the luxurious

and economical Ford Lincoln, Mercury brand was born destined to compete in the same

segment as the General Motors Buick.

Two years after the death of Henry Ford in 1949, Ford models, including Lincoln

and Mercury took infinite variations, abandoning the theory of Henry I the only model
