History Debate Teams
KS5 Debating Society:Kavi Noonan and Miriam Standring in Year 12 represented Twyford at the ‘English Speaking Union’ debating competition in November. They were opposing the motion that “this house would weight votes such that the younger the voter, the more powerful their vote”. They were awarded overall winners of the night and have progressed to the next round. They did a fantastic job and were a credit to the school. Mr McCloskey
Junior Debate League: On Tuesday 28th November eight Year 7 students took part in the first round of the Junior Debate League at St Paul’s Juniors. The students did an excellent job, winning one debate and narrowly losing the other – meaning they are through to the next round! Miss Neary

Interested in a Career in a Creative Profession? Creative Horizons Opportunity for students aged 16-18 years old
If you have a particular interest in the creative sector as a career, Creative Horizons is an exciting opportunity for a select group of 16-18 year olds to take part in interactive workshops with leading professionals from the creative industries. Throughout the two-day workshop in April 2019, professionals will share their expertise in music, production, agency, fashion, design and much more. Last year we had speakers from Ted Baker, ITV and London College of Fashion.
The successful applicants will have a greater understanding of a variety of industries and they will also gain insider knowledge to put them ahead when entering the world of work. At the end of the two day event students will receive a certificate of achievement which is a great addition to any CV. We only have a limited number of spaces available and attendees will be selected through a submission process.
If you are 16-18 and would like to apply, you need to answer “What does creativity mean to you?” in any format you would like to express yourself. Last year’s submissions included songs, lyrics, videos, artwork and more. Please submit applications via the website by Friday 11 January.
