interesting clip from this good article: Commentary from Winter: The politics of the interventionist Draco trading colonies
(see Dune - whose Arrakeis - the home star of Dracos and Dune - is correctly located in Alpha Draconis) - definitely
became represented by Enlil/Yahweh/Michael side of the An - Anunnaki family. Also should be seen as the roots of
insurance and banking on Earth. The templar followers of the MAG (draco matriliny) line are often credited with
’inventing’ insurance and banking for the west. This is absurd - since they had already installed such industry - so close
to fear and extortion - to HARVEST COLONIES on hundreds of planets. The "skull and bones" - Orion- origins of the
Piracy and Extortion story is an example of insurance and banking that loses its public relations budget. More on the
skull of the Mag below. Later - as Enlil/Yahweh under the name of "God" Michabo (Michael) installs genetic rules in
Aboriginal Australia and the America’s he is following the Drac tradition entirely focused on preventing change - and
facilitating harvest of colonies- like forests whose only purpose is to be cut down. At a deeper level we should
investigate the connection between loss of DNA implosion - the physics of loss of soul & access to BLISS - called
NEPHILIM which befell these Draco (lost Seraphim) families. Loss of fire in the blood created loss of lucid dreaming,
loss of "ensoulment" and LOSS OF LONG TERM MEMORY. Part of their problem was loss of ability to navigate in time
travel (’`Guild Navigator’ in Dune - star navigating time travelers, able to warp space from within) - due to this loss of
DNA coherence. Not unlike one of their resultant cultures - TIBETAN - who are intensely aware that their is no steering
their collective cultural direction (time travel) without a leader who IS able to remember past lives. This is exactly what
Draco lost. It is profound to compare this to Zulu shaman leader last week bemoaning to us how his grand children lost
the ability to lucid dream just after they suffered being immunized. This is an example of how borg - fallen Drac empires
- treat DNA. By not loving their genes enough to set them free - they blind their children.

1 Secret mysteries of America's beginnings The New Atlantis 2006 - YouTube
1 "A New Atlantis" 2 "Riddles In Stone" 3 "Phoenix Eye" Secret Mysteries of America's Beginnings unfolds the
fascinating history behind the founding of America, and exposes the esoteric underbelly of its design. Why is
Washington D.C. build on the 77th Meridian? And are Revolutionary War cities really built in perfect alignment with
Stone henge? Follow the journey of secret societies from England to the New World and learn of their "ancient
hope" of establishing a democratic commonwealth that would one day extend to all nations. In the 16th century,
Sir Francis Bacon was at the helm of such societies as the leader of the Rosicrucians and first Grand Master of modern
Freemasonry. As such, he is considered by some to be the true founder of America. For centuries, controversy has
surrounded this man who is said to be the illegitimate son of Queen Elizabeth I and the real author behind the
Shakespeare plays. When Bacon penned his classic work, The New Atlantis, he outlined his vision for the perfect
society; a democratic commonwealth governed by scientific achievement. How were the founding fathers impacted by
Bacon's plan? And is America being driven by this vision today?
2 Secret mysteries of America's beginnings The secret architecture of Washington Dc 2007 - YouTube
Part two explores the highly controversial subject of America's capitol. Was the city built to reflect the majesty of
American freedom, or the hidden agenda of secret societies? With every major cornerstone laid by Freemasons, was
the city built in a Masonic pattern? Embark upon this incredible journey as Riddles interviews experts on both sides of a
heated debate. Watch as Freemason apologists defend some of the most direct and hard-hitting questions concerning
the influence of Masonry in America and its symbolism in Washington D.C. Was D.C. laid out according to the pattern of
the stars? Is there really a pentagram in the street layout north of the White House? Does a Masonic square and
compass extend from the Capitol building to the Washington Monument? And why is the city filled with Zodiac symbols,
mysterious faces, and various god and goddess images? If America was founded as a Christian nation only, where are
the images of Jesus Christ? Or does Washington D.C. symbolize another Christ, the Masonic Christ? Find out, in this
bold and sure-to-be controversial documentary.
3 Secret mysteries of America's beginnings Secrets of the Dollar Bill 2009 - YouTube
This high quality documentary proves the following points about the two Seals on the back of the One Dollar Bill with
clarity and precision: The two Seals are Egyptian and Luciferian The two Seals were introduced by Freemasons, in
1782 Masonic President Franklin Roosevelt, aided by his Secretary of Agriculture/Vice President Wallace, ordered these
Seals to be placed on the back of the Dollar Bill in 1935, having been urged on and advised by the Russian
channeler/mystic, Nicholas Roerich. Americans had no idea that the Roosevelt Administration was as controlled by
mystic, Black Magick forces, as it was. Had they known the degree to which Roosevelt was controlled by Black Magick
forces, he would have been forced out of office immediately. Former Satanist, Doc Marquis, reveals that, while in the
Illuminati, he was taught that the two Seals are NOT official seals of the United States, but of the Global Illuminati! Doc
Marquis also reveals that these two Seals hide three (3) hexagrams plus a hidden message about Freemasonry.

THE CRUSADES: CRESCENT AND THE CROSS - History Channel Part 1 - The First Crusade THE CRUSADES:
CRESCENT & THE CROSS presents the epic battle between two Middle Age superpowers: the Christian Crusaders
and the Muslims. Fought over two centuries, the conflict decided the fate of the Holy Land of the Middle East. Only a
tiny strip of land, just a few hundred miles long, it contained the ultimate prize, the city of Jerusalem. The documentary is
driven by the key personalities of the First, Second and Third Crusades, the popes, kings, sultans and knights who, in
the name of God, ruthlessly fought for land and power. Experience the murder, treachery, and bloodshed of this
legendary chapter of history throuth the eyes of key historical figures such as Richard the Lionheart and Saladin, King
Louis VII and Nur al-Din. With breath-taking CGI-enhanced visuals, heart-pounding reenactments, and stunning footage
from rarely-seen locations THE CRUSADES: CRESCENT & THE CROSS brings the first three Crusades alive for a new
generation in conflict. The Christian invaders were regarded as infidels. The Arabs were scorned as lawless pagans. The
Westerners saw their quest as literally a sanctified crusade, while the Muslims launched their own holy war, called a
jihad, in retaliation. Sound familiar? It should, because although the events depicted in the History Channel's The
Crusades - Crescent & The Cross took place nearly a thousand years ago, they are but a distant mirror to what's going
on in the Middle East right now. Impressively details all three Crusades, starting in the late 11th Century, when Pope
Urban II dispatched a huge force to reclaim Jerusalem, which had been under Muslim control for some 400 years. For
the knights and others who made the journey, it was a noble spiritual quest, not to mention an escape from Europe's
petty wars and famines; in the end, the fact that many of them were greedy butchers who murdered Muslims, Jews, and
even other Christians indiscriminately (sometimes even eating the flesh of the vanquished) detracted not at all from their
conviction that they were acting in the name of God. Of course, so were the Muslims, who, after the bloody first crusade
succeeded in seizing the holy city, mounted a massive counterattack under leaders like Nur al-din and his son Saladin,
who managed to take back Jerusalem (from whence Mohammed was said to have ascended to heaven) and hold on to
it through the failed second and third crusades, the latter led by England's Richard the Lionheart.

History the pope hopes you never learn (1) - YouTube
Did you know over 200 French Calvinists were murdered in Florida in 1565 by the Roman Catholic Spanish? They were
murdered because they were considered enemies to the Holy Roman Catholic Church. Historian Julian Hawthorne, in
his 3 Volume "History Of The United States," 1918 edition, writes,"Hernando de Soto wandered over the area of several
of our present Southern States, and discovered the lower reaches of the Mississippii; HE WAS A MAN OF BLOOD, and
his blood was shed. Some score years later SPANIARDS MASSACRED THE HUGUENOT COLONY AT ST.
AUGUSTINE AND BUILT THAT OLDEST OF AMERICAN CITIES" (History Of The United States, Volume I, chapter 10,
page 269). The Catholic Spanish murdered these Calvinist French Huguenots, so the oldest European city in America
was actually founded by Calvinsits, not Catholics. You don't read about this important piece of history in our modern
history text books today. Catholics have been working very hard to cover up such revealing historical truths. But, after
watching this video, you will have learned a piece of history the papacy tried to keep from you.

Mr. Collier goes over history that has been removed from today's history text-books for various reasons in this video
series. Quite alot of history has been intentionally removed from our young readers today. History that deals with how
dangerous Roman Catholicism is to our United States Constitution, civil liberties, and our individual human freedom. Mr.
Collier reads from Historian Julian Hawthorne's 1918 edition of his classic 3 volume history titld, "History of the United
States". Hawthorne tells of how Calvinist/Puritan John Endicott protested the tyranny of Catholicism by cutting the red
cross out of the British flag in Salem, Massachusetts, in 1648. The act symbolized how Catholic theological, political,
and economic thought must be removed if a people were to have religious and civil liberty. Our Founding Fathers new
the danger that Catholicism posed religious and civil freedom.

The French And Indian War is a chapter in history the pope hopes you will never learn. It was the pope's last chance to
take control of the English Speaking and Protestant Colonies of North America before the American Revolution. The
Calvinistic colonists knew that defeating the Roman Catholic French was a great victory for religious and civil liberties in
the New World. They hated the idea of being ruled by an absolute government that knew no separation between church
and state. They knew the evil of priestcraft and they stood firmly against it.
History the pope hopes you never learn (4) - YouTube
In the time leading up to and during the French And Indian War, England used the same tyrannical rhetoric as our
current administration uses today: Give Up Your Civil Liberties, Or Government Can't Protect You. People then didn't
buy into this nonsense, unlike the hordes of uneducated Catholics and Arminians we have all over America today. Why
didn't the English colonists submit to British tyranny? Because they were Calvinistic in their thinking.

Today, little is taught about how Texas won its independence. Few people know about the Roman Catholic Church's
role in overthrowing the legal constitutional democratic-republic of Mexico, then tyrannizing over the Mexicans and
Protestant settlers of Texas. If you haven't read the Texas Declaration Of Independence, then please do so, for it
identifies the Catholic Church as one of the primary causes of tyranny and injustice in Mexico. Here is a link to that
historical document: http://www.lsjunction.com/docs/tdoi.htm In the Texas Declarartion Of Independence we read:
"When a government has ceased to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people, from whom its legitimate powers
are derived, and for the advancement of whose happiness it was instituted, and so far from being a guarantee for the
enjoyment of those inestimable and inalienable rights, becomes an instrument in the hands of evil rulers for their
oppression. "When the Federal Republican Constitution of their country, which they have sworn to support, no longer
has a substantial existence, and the whole nature of their government has been forcibly changed, without their consent,
from a restricted federative republic, composed of sovereign states, to a consolidated central military despotism, in
which every interest is disregarded but that of the army and the priesthood, both the eternal enemies of civil liberty, the
everready minions of power, and the usual instruments of tyrants... "...the late changes made in the government by
General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who having overturned the constitution of his country, now offers us the cruel
alternative, either to abandon our homes, acquired by so many privations, or submit to the most intolerable of all
tyranny, the combined despotism of the sword and the priesthood. .. "...it [Santa Anna's government] denies us the right
of worshipping the Almighty according to the dictates of our own conscience, by the support of a national religion,
calculated to promote the temporal interest of its human functionaries, rather than the glory of the true and living God.
"Why is the reading of the Texas Declaration Of Independence not required in schools today? Are they afraid of
embarrassing the Catholic Church? How many pages are devoted to the study of Texas Independence in history
classes today?

1-6 Barbarians - The Savage Goths - YouTube
The Goths were a heterogeneous East Germanic tribe. The historian Jordanes claims that the Goths originated in semi-
legendary Scandza, believed to be located somewhere in modern Götaland (Sweden), and that a Gothic population
crossed the Baltic Sea before the 2nd century. Jordanes also states that the Goths gave their name to the region they
colonized, Gothiscandza, which is believed to be the lower Vistula region in modern Pomerelia (Poland). The
archaeological Wielbark (Willenberg) culture is associated with the arrival of the Goths and their subsequent
agglomeration with the indigenous population. However, the reliability of Jordanes, who wrote in the 6th century, is
disputed, and there is also no archaeological evidence for a substantial emigration from Scandinavia. From the middle of
the 2nd century onward, groups of Goths migrated to the southeast along the River Vistula. They eventually reached
Scythia at the coast of the Black Sea in modern Ukraine, Romania and Moldova, where they left their archaeological
traces in the Chernyakhov culture. In the first attested incursion in Thrace the Goths were mentioned as Boranoi by
Zosimus, and then as Boradoi by Gregory Thaumaturgus. During the 3rd and 4th centuries, the Scythian Goths were
divided into at least two distinct groups, the Thervingi and the Greuthungi, separated by the Dniester River. They
repeatedly attacked the Roman Empire during the Gothic Wars. In the late 4th century, the Huns invaded the Gothic
region from the east. While many Goths were subdued and integrated into the Hunnic Empire, others were pushed
towards the Roman Empire. The Goths were converted to Arian Christianity by the Arian half-Gothic missionary Wulfila,
who found it necessary to leave Gothic territory for Moesia (Bulgaria) with his congregation. Here he translated the Bible
into Gothic, devising a script for this purpose. In the 5th and 6th centuries, the Goths separated into two tribes, the
Visigoths and the Ostrogoths. Both established powerful successor states of the Western Roman Empire. In Italy the
Ostrogothic Kingdom established by Theodoric the Great was defeated by the forces of the Eastern Roman Empire after
the Gothic Wars. In Hispania, the Visigothic Kingdom, converted to Catholicism by the late sixth century, survived until
the early eighth century, when it fell to Islam in the Muslim conquest. The Gothic language and culture disappeared, with
the exception of fragments in other cultures. In the 16th century a small remnant of a Gothic dialect was described as
surviving in the Crimea.[4]

Blood Of The Vikings *Full Documentary* - YouTube
Blood of the Vikings is a 5 part 2001 BBC Television documentary series that traces the legacy of the Vikings in the
British Isles through a genetics survey. The research confirmed that the Vikings did not just raid and retreat to
Scandinavia, but settled in Britain for years. They left their genetic pattern in some parts of the UK population.
Concentrations of Norwegian genetic heritage were found in part of Cumbria in northwest England, the area around
Penrith, the Shetland and Orkney Islands and the far north of the Scottish mainland. In addition the research reveals
surprising new information about Celtic and Anglo-Saxon heritage on the British mainland. Men who were tested in
mainland Scotland had a percentage of Celtic genetic heritage similar to the population of southern England. This
showed 1) that Celtic heritage persisted among men in southern England after Anglo-Saxon settlement; and 2) that the
Scots were not predominantly Celtic
Vikings - Erik the Red & Leif Eriksson - YouTube
According to the Sagas of Icelanders, Norsemen from Iceland first settled Greenland in the 980s. Erik the Red (Old
Norse: Eiríkr rauði), having been banished from Iceland for manslaughter, is said to have explored the uninhabited
southwestern coast of Greenland during the three years of his banishment. He made plans to entice settlers to the area,
even purposefully choosing the name Greenland to attract potential colonists, saying "that people would be more eager
to go there because the land had a good name". The inner reaches of one long fjord, named Eiriksfjord after him, was
where he eventually established his estate Brattahlid. He issued tracts of land to his followers. According to the Icelandic
sagas ("Eirik the Red's Saga" and the "Saga of the Greenlanders"), the Norse started to explore lands to the west of
Greenland only a few years after the Greenland settlements were established. In 985 while sailing from Iceland to
Greenland with a migration fleet consisting of 400-700 settlers and 25 other ships (14 of which completed the journey),
a merchant named Bjarni Herjólfsson was blown off course, and after three days sailing he sighted land west of the
fleet. Bjarni was only interested in finding his father's farm, but he described his discovery to Leif Ericson who explored
the area in more detail and planted a small settlement fifteen years later. The sagas describe three separate areas
discovered during this exploration: Helluland, which means "land of the flat stones"; Markland, "the land of forests",
definitely of interest to settlers in Greenland where there were few trees; and Vinland, "the land of wine" (or as
suggested by modern linguists "the land of meadows"), found somewhere south of Markland. It was in Vinland that the
settlement described in the sagas was founded. All four of Erik the Red's children visited the North American continent:
his sons Leif, Thorvald and Thorstein and their sister Freydis. Thorvald died there. Settlements in continental North
America aimed to exploit natural resources such as furs and in particular lumber, which was in short supply in
Greenland. It is unclear why the short-term settlements did not become permanent, though it was in part because of
hostile relations with the indigenous peoples, referred to as Skrælings by the Norse. Nevertheless, it appears that
sporadic voyages to Markland for forages, timber, and trade with the locals could have lasted as long as 400 years.
Evidence of continuing trips includes the Maine Penny, a Norwegian coin from King Olaf Kyrre's reign (1066-1080),
suggesting an exchange between the Norse and the Skrælingar late in or after the 11th century; and an entry in the
Icelandic Annals from 1347 which refers to a small Greenlandic vessel with a crew of eighteen that arrived in Iceland
while attempting to return to Greenland from Markland with a load of timber.
Secrets of the Dark Ages 1/3 - YouTube
The Anglo-Saxon settlement of Britain was a consequence of the migration of Germanic peoples from continental
Germania during the Early Middle Ages, after the demise of Roman rule in the 5th century. These peoples are
traditionally divided into Angles, Saxons and Jutes, but historical and archaeological research conducted in the early
20th century suggests that a wide range of Germanic peoples from the North Sea coasts of Frisia, Lower Saxony, and
Jutland may have moved to Britain in this era, including Frisians and Franks. In their new homeland, they consolidated
into unified Germanic identities through war and other forms of social interaction. In the late sixth century the king of
Kent was a prominent lord in the south; in the seventh century the rulers of Northumbria and Wessex were powerful; for
a brief period around the year 616, East Anglia was the most powerful of the Anglo-Saxon kingdoms of England, and its
king Raedwald was Bretwalda (overlord of the Anglo-Saxons kingdoms). In the eighth century Mercia achieved
hegemony over the other surviving kingdoms. Successive kings of Wessex (and especially Æthelstan) progressively
reinforced the English unitary state, until, with the simultaneous dissolution of Mercia and submission of Northumbria
upon Edgar's succession in 959, the old constituent kingdoms in effect became consolidated into one.

Pagans - Sexy Beasts 1/3 - YouTube
The unlearned tend to see Germanic and Indo-European tradition through the prism of modern religious thought and
current political fashions. Throughout history, the representations of the Gods and traditions followed by our ancestors
have been marred by propaganda from hostile groups eager to rein in those they redefined to fit their own views. In
truth, the word "pagan" is a Roman term meaning "rural folk", coined as a term of disparagement by a religious
movement originating from the teeming slums of the Roman Empire. By contrast, the general concept of our tradition is
of oneness with nature, a quest to fully understand the significance of the world around us and to thrive within it. The
underlying truth behind the many accounts describing our ancestors as "bestial" is of human similarity with animals and
nature. Where modern religion aims to emphasise the difference between us and the world around us, the ancient
perspective is that kin groups are interdependent with the world they inhabit. The forces of aggression and sexuality
observable in nature are powerful elements in the success of a people, whose community and hierarchy also mirrors
that of the natural world.

The Franks 1/3 - YouTube
The Franks were a West Germanic confederation, uniting the peoples in Magna Germania north and east of the Lower
Rhine River. Modern scholars of the Migration Period are in agreement that the Frankish identity emerged in the first
half of the 3rd century out of various Germanic groups, including the Salii, Sicambri, Chamavi, Bructeri, Chatti,
Chattuarii, Ampsivarii, Tencteri, Ubii, Batavi and the Tungri, who inhabited the area between the Zuyder Zee and the
river Lahn and extended eastwards as far as the Weser, but were most densely settled around the IJssel and between
the Lippe and the Sieg. From the third to fifth centuries the Frankish armies raided Roman territory and expanded their
influence among the Germanic peoples previously living under Roman rule on the left bank of the Rhine. In 358, the
Salian Franks came to some form of agreement with the Romans that allowed them to settle in Toxandria (roughly
Noord-Brabant, Antwerpen and Vlaams-Brabant). Each tribe within the Frankish confederation consisted of extended
kinship groups centred around a particularly renowned and noble family. The importance of the family bond was made
clear by the Salic Law, which ordained that an individual had no right to protection if not part of a family. One particular
Salian family comes to light of Frankish history in the early fifth century, in time to become the Merovingians - Salian
kings named after Childeric's mythical father Merovech, whose birth was thought to be divine. Clovis, king of the Salian
Franks, became the absolute ruler of a united Frankish kingdom in 486. He consolidated his rule with victories over the
Gallo-Romans and all the other Frankish tribes and established his capital in Paris. After he had beaten the Visigoths
and the Alemanni, his sons drove the Visigoths to Spain and subdued the Burgundians, Alemanni and Thuringians.
During the period of Merovingian rule, the Franks reluctantly began to adopt Christianity following the baptism of Clovis
in 496. Following Clovis' conversion, a number of Franks rallied around Ragnachar, a powerful figure who had played an
important role in Clovis' initial rise to power, but their rebellion was crushed. The remaining pockets of resistance within
the population were overcome region by region through a quickly expanding network of monasteries. The Frankish
church had to come to terms with an established Gallo-Roman clergy that actively spread anti-Germanic propaganda,
which has survived in their writings and works of history; it had to Christianise traditional Frankish sensibilities and
effectively suppress them; it had to provide a new theological basis for Frankish kingship, which was deeply rooted in
Germanic tradition. While the Goths or the Vandals had been at least partly Christianised since the mid-4th century,
traditional Germanic beliefs are thought to have flourished among the Franks until well after the conversion of Clovis to
Christianity. Militarily, the Franks under the Merovingians melded Germanic custom with Romanised organisation and
several important tactical innovations. Immediately beneath the Frankish king in the military hierarchy were the leude,
sworn followers of the king, generally veteran soldiers in service away from court. The king also had an elite bodyguard
called the truste. Members of the truste often served in garrison settlements of Franks established for military and police
purposes throughout the realm. The actual day-to-day bodyguard of the king was made up of senior soldiers who were
part of the traditional warrior nobility. After the conquest of Burgundy (534) the well-organised military institutions of that
Germanic kingdom were integrated into the Frankish realm. Chief among these was the standing army under the
command of the Patrician of Burgundy. After 250 years, however, marked by internecine struggles, a gradual decline
occurred. The kingship of the Merovingians was taken over and reinvigorated by the Carolingians, who came from
Austrasia, the Germanic core lands of the Franks. By 842, the Carolingian-Frankish empire began splitting into separate
proto-countries, along the lines of their different languages and customs: The predominantly Roman-Gaulish West
Francia (France) and the predominantly Germanic East Francia (Germany).

The Varangians or Rus' were North Germanic groups of Vikings, who from the 9th to 11th centuries ventured eastwards
and established a state under their leader Rurik, dominating the local population along three major trade routes in the
region. The successors of Rurik were the ruling dynasty of Rus (after 862), the successor principalities of Galicia-
Volhynia (after 1199), Chernigov, Vladimir-Suzdal, the Grand Duchy of Moscow, and the founders of the Tsardom of
Russia. The Persian traveler Ibn Rustah describes the relationship between the Rus' and the Slavs: "As for the Rus,
they live on an island that takes three days to walk round and is covered with thick undergrowth and forests; it is most
unhealthy. They harry the Slavs, using ships to reach them; they carry them off as slaves and sell them. They have no
fields but simply live on what they get from the Slav's lands. When a son is born, the father will go up to the newborn
baby, sword in hand; throwing it down, he says, 'I shall not leave you with any property: You have only what you can
provide with this weapon.'"Coinciding with the general end of the Viking Age, the influx of Scandinavians stopped, and
the remaining Varangians were eventually assimilated by East Slavs by the late 11th century. In contrast to the intense
Scandinavian influence in Normandy and the British Isles, Varangian culture did not survive to a great extent in the
East. Not only due to geographic considerations, it is often argued that most of the Varangians who traveled and settled
in the eastern Baltic, Russia and lands to the south came from the area of modern Sweden. The Frankish Annals of St.
Bertin refer to a group of Norsemen, who called themselves Rhos and visited Constantinople around the year 838.
Fearful of returning home via the steppes, which would leave them vulnerable to attacks, these Rhos travelled through
Germany accompanied by Greek ambassadors from the Byzantine emperor Theophilus. When questioned by the
German Emperor Ludwig the Pious at Ingelheim, they informed him that they lived far to the north, and that they were
Swedes (comperit eos gentis esse sueonum).

The Germanic peoples are an ethno-linguistic group, originating in Northern Europe and identified by their use of the
Germanic languages, which diversified out of Common Germanic in the course of the Pre-Roman Iron Age. The
descendants of these people became the ethnic groups of North Western Europe, such as the Danes, Swedes,
Norwegians, Icelanders, Faroese, Germans, Dutch, English and Frisians. Migrating Germanic tribes spread throughout
Europe in Late Antiquity (CE 300-600) and the Early Middle Ages. Germanic languages became dominant along the
Roman borders (Austria, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and England), but in the rest of the (western) Roman
provinces, the Germanic conquerors adopted Latin (Romance) dialects and assimilated. Furthermore, all Germanic
peoples were eventually Christianised to varying extents. Although the Germanic tribes did not have a self-designation
that included all Germanic people, non-Germanic people, primarily Celtic and Roman, were called *walha- (this word
lives forth in names such as Wales, Welsh, Cornwall, Walloons, Vlachs), whereas the term Wends or Wendish (Old
English: Winedas, Old Norse Vindr, German: Wenden, Winden, Danish: Vendere, Swedish: Vender) is used in
Germanic languages for Slavs living near Germanic settlement areas after the Migration Period. The generic *þiuda-
"people" occurs in many personal names such as Thiud-reks and also in the ethnonym of the Swedes from a cognate of
Old English Sweo-ð?od and Old Norse: Sui-þióð. Additionally, þiuda- appears in Angel-ð?od ("Anglo-Saxon people")
and Gut-þiuda ("Gothic people"). The adjective derived from this noun, *þiudiskaz, "popular", was later used with
reference to the language of the people in contrast to the Latin language (earliest recorded example 786 CE). The word
is continued in German "Deutsch" (meaning German), English "Dutch", Dutch "Duits" and "Diets" (the latter referring to
Dutch, the former meaning German), Danish/Norwegian "tysk", Swedish "tyska" and Icelandic "Þýska" (meaning
German). The name "Germany" and other similar names are derived from the Latin "Germania", of the 3rd century BCE,
a word of uncertain origin. The name appears to be a Gaulish term, and there is no evidence that it was ever used by
the Germanic peoples themselves. In English, the word "German" is first attested in 1520, replacing earlier uses of
Almain, Alman and Dutch. In German, the word "Germanen" refers to the Germanic peoples as a whole and its main
uses are therefore in historical, linguistic and ethnographical contexts. The endonym "Deutsch" is otherwise preferred.
