    held a regular meeting at its building,1501 Orthodox street, oil Tuesday eve-nin Marchrch 11. I)r. Jou C. Mendenii.io peniued and called,ioeetiDg..uuer with a few words of welcome. Thesecretary read the minutes of the prev-ious meeting held on February 11th,which were approved. Dr. Mendenhallmade some further remarks about Rev.John W. Lever's picture of old Frank-ford, telling the members where it hadbeen placed on the walls of the build-111g. He announced that the April meeting will be addressed by J. StogdellStokes on 'Furniture Collecting, thePhiladelphia Museum of Art and thePennsylvania 1)utch." Dr. WilliamSeifriz, of the University of Pennsyl-vania, will speak at the meeting in May.Dr. -Mendenhall had for presentation arare jewelry set of ivory pin and ear-rings of curious design. They camefrom Mr. William Spawm, of Washing-ton.Mr. Shahicross told of a minute whichhad been received from the Society ofArchitects about our former member,Mr. Frank R. Watson. A handsomegift of the History of the Historical So-ciety of Pennsylvania had been receiv-ed. It was compiled by the late Hamp-ton L Carson, and published, by his sonJoseph Carson. Four old books of mus-ic, used by Rev. John W. Lever, came tothe Society from his daughter, MissIona L. Lover. Mr. Benjamin S. Thorpcalled attention to the little booklet anddirectory recently issued by FrankfordTrust Company, and said that the er-rors regarding the historical Society,would be corrected in the next issue.Dr. 'Mendenhall remarked that some-time there should be a memorial tabletdesignating the founding of the Society.

    Proceeding to the program of the ev-ening, the meeting was turned over toour able fellow mcniber Mr. Horace W.Castor, who had prepared a paper on"Old Pine Street Church and FrankfordGun Powder." From some source hehad found much of interest concerningthat old church in Philadelphia, - oneof the oldest. Much was told of thepastor, Rev. George Duffield, who wrotethe hymn,. "Stand Up tmrnd Up, For.Jesus" Mi fly of tfle iIIIl)itaiit peoplein the early (lays of Philadelphia at-tended that church, and Mr. Castorshowed where they also figured in thehistory of Frankford - Thomas Jeffer-son, who did part of the Declaration ofIndependence in the old summerhouseat the, Drinker place; Washington wasnominated here, and Cap. Stephen De-catur had his powder mill here on Pow-red Mll Lane with his home 'Mllsdaie'nearby.

    Rev. Philip Mladore from New Yorkwas the third pastor of the old church.When his health broke down and hisPhysician ordered him to go to a quietplace to rest, he chose Frankford wherehis iihysieian was Dr. Ruan. Dr. Ben-jamin Rush, who was known all overthe world, and who was born in nearbyByberry, was well known hi Philadel-phia and Frankford.1)1 '\jfl thanked M. It was much enjoy-ed by all, and was both interesting andinstructive.At the informal reception by theWomen's Auxiliary at the close of themeeting, the hostesses were Mss S. MStearns and Mrs. S. A. Morrison.
