The Inspiration
• European Gothic Novels– Dracula
• Several other authors helped stir up the horror genre.– Edgar Allen Poe,
Stephen King, Mary Shelley, etc.

The Firsts
The first horror isn’t
completely known.
Either by Edison or
Melies.
But both involved horrific scenes for that time.

It’s Alive….The First full length Horror
• Frankenstein became the full length horror movie to come out (1910).
• Soon after many more full length horror movies started to appear all over the world.

Direction is Everything
Having a great director puts a movie over every other.
Famous Directors:
Alfred Hitchcock,
Wes Craven,
Sean S. Cunningham,
John Carpenter,
And many more.

• Throughout the years several
horror mascots have been born.

• The make up process for horror movies has become and integrated segment.
• Without the horrific make up then most of the monsters couldn’t truly come to life.

• The rarity of a horror at the Oscars is almost like seeing an eclipse.

• Horror continue to evolves today – From make up– To special effects– To acting/ directing
• Everything just keeps getting better.
