Think the happiestplace on earth and
its unlikely that yourthoughts wont drift
towards some place thatbrings out the child in you, nomatter what date your birthcertificate states. For mostpeople around the world, this place also has a name Disneyland. Legendaryanimator Walt Disneysdream, materialised by histeam of imagineers into theworlds most frequentedentertainment theme parks, also remains the dream oftravellers across the world.
And this dream came truefor five Indian families, whowon an all-expenses paid tripeach to the five Disneydestinations via the popularJet Set Go contest. Invited to
track the experience of onesuch family, the Singhs fromMumbai, at the Walt DisneyWorld Resort in Orlando,Florida, one realised theextent to which a visit toDisneyland strikes a chordwith adults and kids al ike. Itwas magical being there, not
just for my 12-year-old son
Aman and seven-year-olddaughter Anandita, but alsofor my wife Ritu and I,says Jaswinder Singh Vig, a
popular ghazal singer. Headds, I really wish we haveDisneyland in India someday,we have so much to offer tothe world.
While Anandita cant stopgushing about meetingPrincess Cinderella at thelatters glimmering castle, her brother feels he could livein the Toy Story land forever. But its Ritu who speaks themind of a whole lot of us whoare scared of the adventurerides. I couldnt even get ona giant wheel back home. Butover here, I gathered courageto ride the ExpeditionEverest. Thats whatDisneyland does to you, shesays, speaking of the popularride at the resorts AnimalKingdom park.
The family, whoseadventure is being aired at10.30am this Sunday onDisney channel, cant gushenough about the experience, but the final word goes tolittle Anandita, Contest ornot, Im c oming every year.

Birdwatchers oftengo to extremelengths to spot arare species. By
contrast, the bird sanctuaryin Nigerias Amurum ForestReserve is rarel y, if eve r, onany wish list. More than 260bird species have beenspotted in the reserve, cover-ing two square kilometres,
just outside the central cityof Jos, including two that areendemic: the Rock Firefinchand the Plateau Indigo Bird.
Yet, Shiiwua Manu, who
runs the AP LeventisOrnithological ResearchInstitute in Amurum Forest, says visitors are rare. Thecountry has a miserable repu-tation as a tourism destina-tion even before the currentEbola epidemic and fearsover Islamist violence cameup. If I were a non-Nigerianand I was (travelling) to lookfor birds, I obviously wontcome to Nigeria. And youknow why, says the Oxford-trained ornithologist.
