¥ Driving to Cairns on Bruce H’way, turn left at Palmerston H’way turnoff (4 km). Drive approx. 30 kms toWooroonooran Nat. Park. This park has much to offer. Vantage points along the highway (Crawford’sLookout) give views of the Johnstone River Gorge. There are many picnic and swimming spots such asHenrietta & Goolagan’s Creek & self-guided walks (see maps over).Go back towards Innisfail, take South Johnstone turnoff on right and take a scenic drive along HendersonDrive to Wangan, then Innisfail or you can turn right to visit Paronella Park.¥ Driving north to Cairns turn off & drive 8 km to Josephine Falls carpark. This is the starting point forBroken Nose & the Summit treks (see Walking Track maps over). Take picnic lunch, 10 min. walk throughbeautiful rainforest to Falls.¥ Returning, turn right to TheGolden Hole RecreationalArea. Shelter, toi letsprovided at this large, deepwaterhole.

Refer to Town Map. At The Canecutter Statue, cross Jubilee Bridge.Travel east along the Corso along south bank of river, follow road through East Innisfail out toCoquette Point. Take in breathtaking views then returning, turn south along Mourilyan Road.Continue until Mourilyan (8 km). Stop at the Australian Sugar Industry Museum and theSugarama Gallery and experience the drama and heritage of the Sugar industry.Take next left turn to Etty Bay, follow sign left (13 km) & go for swims & a picnic lunch under largeshady trees that line this charming beach.Driving back, take turn on left & go to Mourilyan Sugar Terminal (7 km). You can view MourilyanHarbour or pick up your bait & ice and go fishing & crabbing. Visit the coral beaches of BarnardIslands (N.P. permits required) or Olive Rock for great fishing.

You can spend 2 days or more visiting all the wonderful spots on this map.On your way to or fromCairns, take turnoff at Babinda to the Boulders (see maps over).Coconut-fringed Bramston Beach is just 13 km from the highway (turnoff just south of Miriwinni). Have lunch or swim. Returning (6 km), take turnoff to Eubenangee Swamp N.P. Follow walkingtrack to Lookout (remember insect repellent). After walk, continue south past historic GarradungaHotel. Follow Old Bruce Hwy and signs around to left to Flying Fish Point/Innisfail (alternate route).Continue to the Coconuts (turnoff to right to view the mouth of the river) and Flying Fish Pointramp and panoramic Lookout, Flying Fish Point Van Park for beachside accommodation, or the

popular Seaside Cafe then on to secluded Ella Bay N.P& beach. Overnight camping & facilities are provided.

Mission Beach’s coastline comprises 24 km of golden, sandybeaches & cool green rainforest with many islands dottingthe horizon and many bush walks within the national parks,state forests or World Heritage areas.The twelve islands of the Family Group and the Great BarrierReef are within easy access by boat. Dunk Island, the fatherof the group is also accessible by ferry, water taxi or jet ski.

At 1622 metres, Mt. Bartle Frere isQueensland’s highest peak. Distance to theSummit is approximately 7.5 kilometres. Thetrail is unformed and very steep in someplaces. Keep to marked trail as it is easy toget lost in dense rainforest. Access to the trailis at the turnoff to Josephine Falls (2 kilometressouth of Miriwinni) on the Bruce Highway. Thepark entrance is 8 kilometres from the turnoff.From the parking area you will make a steepgradual climb coming to Big Rock Camp. Youcan either climb to spectacular Broken Noseor continue, to pass over numerous graniteboulders, and on to the Summit. From theSummit, you can return to your starting pointor continue to the other side (15 kilometrestotal length).

The trail descends to Top Western Camp andNorth West Peak. The next 5 kilometres is a steepdescent. When Bobbin Bobbin Falls can beheard, the exit is only 2 kilometres away.A camping permit is required & is available fromself-registration stands at the trail ends. Only thefittest bushwalkers can cover this distance in oneday so the hike is best undertaken over 2 days.SAFETY FOR HIKERSBefore departing for this hike please ensure you:-- seek local info from Ranger Station;- have correct maps and compass;- have adequate food, water, clothing suitable for wet & cold conditions;- give details of proposed trip to a responsible person;- take a fuel stove, no fires permitted.

n important component of the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area,Wooroonooran boasts some of the oldestsurviving rainforest in the world.Walking tracks include:¥Crawford’s Lookout to North Johnstone RiverLookout (1.5kms) - the track winds down,dropping some 500m. There is access to rivervia a steep 800m walk from junction.¥Crawford’s Lookout along Highway to theentrance to Tchupala Falls (2kms).¥From here the track leads either to TchupalaFalls or to spectacular Wallicher Falls¥Continue to Goolagan s Ck Picnic Area (3kms).

¥From Goolagan’s Creek Picnic Area a shorttrack (800m) then follows Henrietta Creek andlinks the picnic and camping areas.¥From here, the track climbs the ridge thatseparates Henrietta and Douglas Creeks. Itthen winds slowly down towards NandroyaFalls (2kms) from the camping area. Returnback along the main Nandroya Falls track orcontinue along the full circuit track (7.2km). Itthen skirts a steep hillside before rejoining themain track about 1km from the camping area.Camping permits can be obtained from theself-registration station at the camping area.
