In astrology, those born between March 1–20 are the Fish of Pisces. Fish feel things deeply, as in under-the-sea deep. These intuitive, creative, and intelligent people have strong feelings of right and wrong and love to help others. Those born between March 21–31 are the Rams of Aries. As the first sign of the zodiac, Aries like to be number one. Bold, courageous, passionate, and somewhat impulsive, Rams dive headfirst into even the most challenging situations.

Message from the Executive Director:
Dear Residents, Families and Loved Ones, True to tradition, March has come in like a lion; hopefully it only gets warmer from here!
February was a quieter month at Hilltop as we recover from a very busy end to 2019. We are looking forward to seeing you on March 17th for our St. Patrick’s Day party this month! Further details can be found on the program calendar. A friendly reminder to all that if you are bringing new clothing to Hilltop that it needs to first go to laundry to be labeled. Once an unlabeled item of clothing ends up in our laundry system, it can be very difficult to find it’s owner. On that note, we will be doing a lost and found display during the week of March break. Please visit the Lincoln Room to view unclaimed clothing items. We are excited to share that the recreation department has recently purchased a new interactive activity system known as It’s Never Too Late (IN2L). This system is loaded with activities for residents with a large touch screen display and camera and has special modules for residents with dementia and visual or hearing impairments. It has already been a huge hit with our residents, and please keep an eye out for it on your next visit. Sincerely, Mike Dickin

February Meeting Follow-up – Wednesday, February 12, 2020
Meeting – Started at 6:00 pm
Tonight’s Discussion – Follow up from January meeting- Meeting minutes also in Family Council
binder from hallway
Mike Dicken – Executive Director explained to us the various procedures and process regarding the on-going staffing concerns. The leadership team is putting forward for approval an addition of a full-time front-line receptionist as well as removing 4-parttime lines for PSW’s to 2 fulltime lines. This will hopefully help with attendance issues. Further discussions took place regarding communication with family members and staff on Grand River and in the home overall. How to make this easier for families and staff. Options discussed: communication binder, text to phone option, roto call option. Family Council is hoping to have the home install a communication board in the library. This will allow for the Leadership team to post a staffing chart for face recognition. This room is also being used to share various means of information with families. We are also hoping for a TV to be placed in the main lobby for families to be able to see the ongoing activities and information from the home through this type of medium.
