Principal’s Voice:
Dear Parents and Caregivers Kia Ora
As we draw closer to the end of the term next week, I would like to thank all the teachers and support staff for all their hard work over this term. It has been very busy with lots of fantastic learning taking place throughout the school. I would like to add my thanks to the children for all their hard work and know that they will be looking forward to a well earned break. A special thanks also to the parents and caregivers for all the support you give to your children and to us as a school. As part of our 5 Year property plan, there will be a number of classroom and toilet upgrades over the next two terms. The Ministry of Education have allocated funds to support our 5 Year property plan and have approved a number of projects to upgrade the school. These include repairs to roofing, stormwater drainage and electrical work. All classrooms and a number of toilets will be upgraded which is long overdue. This work will be progressively carried out over the next two terms, there will be some disruption during this process which we hope to manage and keep to a minimum, and the plan is to get the work done as quickly as possible. We are just working on the timing with the Project Manager and I will keep you informed This will be the last newsletter for this term, so have an enjoyable and safe time over the holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all again at the beginning of Term 3. Many Thanks
Nga Mihi Nui Mark Lewington

Instrumental music lessons with Lewis Eady at Hillsborough Primary!
Our students will have the opportunity to learn to play musical instruments at school with Lewis Eady (commencing week 2 next term). Lewis Eady’s beginner music programme Musical Jam – a fun, instrumental prep programme for children in year 1 and 2 is a great way to get started! For children in year 3 and upwards, 30 minute lessons (group or one-on-one) will take place on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday during school time. Instruments available include piano, keyboard, guitar and ukulele. Singing, recorder, strings, woodwind, drum kit and brass will also be available should there be sufficient interest. To secure a place for your child for music lessons commencing week two of next term (term 3 2019) please visit www.lewiseady.co.nz and enrol online by Friday 12 July 2019.
The Zone Hockey Team played last Tuesday at the Mt Roskill Zone Hockey Competition. We had a sunny day and the children played hard and showed great sportsmanship in all their games. They played 4 games, won 2 and lost 1 and drew 1. Well done team!

FoHPS Survey Summary
A big thank you to everyone who responded to our FoHPS survey. We received some great
feedback and ideas for future fundraising activities.
Based on responses we received, there was overwhelming support to host a School fair in 2020!
With many commenting, it was a wonderful opportunity to draw the community together. As a result
we will be hosting a School Fair in early 2020! This will be led by helpers and supporters of
Hillsborough Primary School. To help get the Fair up and running we will be holding an initial
meeting to gather ideas with all those that were keen to be involved in sub committees (for stalls).
The more support we get for this, the bigger the Fair can be. We will also be in touch with those that
kindly offered their business contacts for the Fair.
Below are some key callouts from the survey
Mufti, Iceblock and BBQ days were most popular
Based on the feedback we received Bake Sales will now be held outside of the Mother’s
Day/Father’s Day dates
Majority of people are using Kindo along with Newsletter to find out what’s coming up –but
don’t forget about the Mobile App too
It was great to get a view of when people are available to support different events at School
either during, or after school
We received some great ideas for new fundraisers, so look out for these in the future.
Thank you again we really appreciate your support and a reminder that we are always looking
for new FoHPS members.
