Mumps. It is recommended all children are up to date with their
vaccinations. Primary school children should have had 2 doses of MMR. If
you have any concerns or queries, please visit ;www.nhs.co.uk/conditions/
mumps.
MEET THE TEACHER
Early next term there will be the opportunity for you to meet with your
child’s new teacher. At this meeting the teacher will explain class
routines, timetables and expectations for the coming year. Watch out for
the dates in September.
ATTENDANCE
At Hill View Primary we make school attendance a priority so that we can assure that your child is receiving the very
best opportunity to achieve their full potential. The Government is committed to reducing absence and expects every
pupil to maintain an attendance level above 96%. Authorised absence from school will only be granted in
EXCEPTIONAL circumstances. If a child’s attendance falls below 96% parents may incur a penalty fine. From
September, the school is introducing an application form ‘Absence in term time’, which to ensure the parents are
clear about their legal responsibilities and the school has all the facts needed to make the decision regarding the
request. Each request will be judged on a case by case basis. The form will be available from the school office or the
website.
BLOOMING LOVELY
The efforts of our Gardening Club, run by Miss Homer, were recently judged by the Bournemouth in Bloom judges.
The following children represented the club at the presentation ceremony last Friday; Lola Griffith-Watts, Charlie
Spetch, Oliver Beale, Alex Sherring & Isabel Laker.
The children were successful in gaining three silver certificates for ‘The Most Enterprising School’ for their efforts in
growing a variety of fruit and vegetables.

HILL VIEW’S GOT TALENT

Be a part of Bournemouth’smost historic event!
This year the Candlelight Event is going back to its original roots with a candlelit procession through Bournemouth’s historical Lower Gardens. Join Empress Elizabeth on her journey to the seafront just as she did over a hundred years ago.
Light the Empress’ route, join in the free children’s entertainment and listen to the tales of Bournemouth’s fascinating past.
A captivating event for the whole family!
Entertainment begins from 7pm around the Lower Gardens Bandstand.
For further information please visitwww.bournemouth.co.uk/whats-on
to add to the experience we need you….
Become a part of the Empress’ entourage and walk her by candlelight down the lit pathways of the beautiful
Lower Gardens to the seafront.
We are looking for young volunteers and their guardians to form part of the procession through the gardens. You will be provided with hanging lanterns and procession torches and invited to walk with the
Empress to the seafront, where your lanterns will then form part of a special finale piece. The procession
gathers in the Lower Gardens and begins at 8.45pm, lasting around 20 minutes.
