What is the Purpose of the HTS?• Main goal of HTS is to:
move people and cargo from one place to another in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.
• The National Highway Safety Act:– Established by the Federal,
State, and Local Government- Set of traffic safety guidelines- Enforced by people, motor vehicle dept, courts
Safety and Efficiency on the road…How can you reduce your risk of
accidents and/or incidents on the road?
1. Keep vehicle in top condition2. Anticipate the actions of others3. Take steps to protect yourself and others

- Gives you room to maneuver your vehicle incase of sudden stops
- Increases reaction time
