PEOPLE LIVEABILITY LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE LOCAL PROSPERITY ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY Message from the Mayor I am very pleased to advise that we have been able to keep the rates increase to a conservative 1.92% which compares to the current Australian Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 1.9%. This modest increase can be attributed to sound resource management and financial planning. The year ahead will see some major projects completed including the recently commenced undergrounding of power to the final pocket of the Town’s power network. This much anticipated project will be finished by the end of the financial year. Improving traffic flow around the locality remains a focus and the new on-street parking plan, being implemented from July, is a positive step toward addressing parking issues in high demand areas. A number of improvements to the Town’s facilities are also planned including; the much anticipated $1.6m upgrade to the Freshwater Bay Museum which will conserve and bring new life to the Town’s history. A $600k splash pad is planned for the Claremont Aquatic Centre, $1.8m has been allocated to upgrades and renewal of roads and share paths and a further $670k will help improve and maintain our beautiful parks and gardens. A detailed budget can be viewed on the Town’s website.
