From the Pastor …
Dear Family and Friends from Highlands,
What a blessing the last 15 years have been! Thank you for the privilege of being
your pastor. There have been so many blessings, but let me share just a few.
Blessings to my family. When we first came to Highlands the children were young.
Becca and Angela were still in elementary school. I know how seriously each of you
have taken the promise to help encourage these young ones to grow up to love The
Lord. I think back over the past 15 years and can see how Highlands has helped
each of our children grow to love and serve the Lord! I also think of the things that
have happened to stretch and grow Bonnie and I, and I thank God for the lessons
He has taught us
Blessings to our church family. It has been encouraging to me as your pastor to
look back over the last 15 years and see how God has grown each one of you
individually and also to see how God has grown you together as a congregation
striving for unity of mind and purpose. From changed lives to healed marriages, it is
a blessing to see God at work in your lives.
Blessings to our community and beyond. How exciting to see a church that has
embraced the great commission with such enthusiasm. Since we came 15 years
ago, we have had the pleasure of seeing highlands start a MMO program to reach
out the families of the Grayson area. We have seen hundreds of children learn more
about Jesus through vacation bible school. From Luaus to the BBQ, community
cookouts, Soup Nites, Highlands has come up with creative ways to share the love
of God with our community. It hasn't stopped there as Highlands has gone even
father spreading the message of the gospel through mission trips both near and far.
Thank you once again for supporting me as your pastor. Thank you for the wonderful
expressions of your love through the gifts you have given to me and my family
throughout the years but especially this past month. From the bottom of my heart I
thank you. May God richly bless you and us in the years to come as we work
together for God’s glory.

Hi All, Merry Christmas! We had so much fun last nite at Soup Nite. Our menu was Smoked Picnic Ham, mac n cheese, green bean casserole, oj cups, applesauce and homemade Christmas cookies. We were also able to serve fresh garden cucumbers and organic milk. A huge thank you to Dewey and Eunice for making hams! They turned out beautifully cooked. There were a total of 11 hams to prepare and it was quite the festive sight to see all these hams being sliced up. Lea and Sal came to the rescue to help with cutting up those hams. Jane and I
Soup Nite
realized we are not really ham people. Honey Baked Hams is our go to place. lol. It was a delicious meal to serve and after a slow start, we didn't stop until 7 pm when we ran out of food. I sort of chuckle because God always comes thru for our team. We just hate to waste food or pack it up for another time and once again, we didn't have to. There were children that decorated cookies with us at the cookie table, there was a kids gift table and happy that we were able to offer that and that Grayson's community is a shining star of working together. It was good to see Lillie Rankin at Soup
Nite, helping to deliver meals to shut ins. Also, helping to deliver were Paul, Don and Betty. Faith ran our drink table and Liezl did the dishes. It wa a FANTASTIC time together! Thank you to our always faithful team. We missed our Faith team and hope to see you in the New Year. This is our last Soup Nite for December. Our next one is January 15th, serving New Years Soup and then again on January 29th, serving Chicken Taco Soup. Thank you for your willingness to serve and listening to God when he calls you. Have a safe and blessed New Year.
“Thank you for
all your help

Thank you for
helping make

wishes come
true! We appreciate you!”

December was full of incredible holiday fun and fellowship! Our Talent Show was
a huge success, and we enjoyed all of the performances. Thank you to everyone who
participated, and we are already looking forward to the show next year! Many
Wednesday nights this month we have played games, talked together, and had
several epic snowball fights! It’s so neat to see the friendships grow between the
youth.
We are continuing our study of Colossians in Sunday School and are looking
forward to finishing our study of living out the Gospel in our lives in the new year. Pray
with us as we begin a new year that we will all focus on God and His plans for us!

January Theme: My Five Senses
This month we will learn about
“My Five Senses.” We will have many fun activities that the
students will be able to see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. We
will also learn about letters “M, N, O, and
P.” Parents and friends are invited to join us
to “see, smell, touch, and taste” donuts on
January 18 at 9:45 am! On January
25th we will have a silly fun day where we wear our pajamas
to school day!
The students did a great job on their Christmas Program! They sang
songs and performed “The Christmas Story.” A pizza party in the fellowship
hall was enjoyed by all after the program.
