HPPL Interesting Facts 1900- 35 books destroyed due to contagion 1918- Library closed for 6 days for coal strike

and 16 days for influenza epidemic 1905 cornerstone from Carnegie building

placed inside 1930 Cornerstone- which cannot be opened until the year 5105 A.D. as specified in the 1905 HPPL News lettter

the history of the library

historical room at HPPL Houses history of the library,

Highland park and surrounding counties

Arranged in acid free folders in file cabinets by subject

and documents that the history room houses such as newspaper articles from the day after the Chicago Fire, campaign poster from Lincoln’s presidential election
