Why should you study Higher RMPS?

It is recognised by all universities as a legitimate qualification, the same as any other subject! In fact all universities offer degree courses related to RMPS.

What will you study?

The course is made up of three units.

1. Morality in the Modern World (Medical Ethics)

2. World Religion: Buddhism3. Belief and Science

Morality in the Modern World

• This section begins with looking at moral philosophy, asking questions such as; Why do we have to do the right thing? Why can’t we just do as we please? How do we know if something is right?

• We will then go on to apply these philosophies to the moral issue of Medical Ethics, in particular the use of embryos and euthanasia . We will look at the issue in depth and investigate case studies.

World Religion: Buddhism

• In this unit you will study Buddhism in depth. • You will study:

»Overview: What does it mean to be human? (suffering)»The Human Condition: What life is like.»The Goals: What they hope to achieve

(enlightenment).»The Means: How they achieve this.

Belief and Science

• In this unit you with think about how people answer the BIG QUESTIONS through religious belief and science.

• You will study, in depth, both scientific and religious explanations.

• You will think about how these explanations both contradict and compliment one another.

Possible Career Paths

• Higher RMPS would be useful in many fields, as well as preparing you for university study.
