Coventry and Warwickshire have
the best of both worlds, from the vibrancy and excitement
of the city, to the peace and tranquillity of the countryside. In Coventry
you will find combined world famous history with the vivacity of contemporary buildings and great night life. Intertwine that with Warwickshire’s breath taking surroundings and historic towns – what more could you ask for?
Coventry offers a rich choice of culture and entertainment, from galleries and museums, to live music concerts and fantastic shopping locations. Its biggest venue is the 32,000-seater Ricoh Arena; host
to exhilarating live football matches and music concerts. Coventry is also home to the Belgrade Theatre, which offers a wide range of events from stand-up comedy to West End musicals.
There are also many places of interest in Warwickshire. The county is split into five districts, all within reach to great facilities; from local farmers markets to a wide selection of bars, clubs and restaurants. Warwickshire holds a breadth of history, with famous landmarks such as Warwick Castle, Royal Leamington Spa and Shakespeare’s birthplace of Stratford upon Avon.
On top of this, Coventry and Warwickshire are just a short 30 minute bus or train journey to their neighbouring city Birmingham.

Choosing where and which course you wish to study can be one of the most important and difficult decisions you will have to make. Henley College Coventry and City College Coventry have produced this joint prospectus giving you the range of higher education courses available to you to help you in making this decision.
We recognise that deciding to apply for a higher education course is a big step and the cost of study at university makes it even more important to ensure that you make the right choice. By studying close to home it will probably mean that you won’t have the additional living costs and may be able to carry on working whilst studying.
Most universities in England will charge the maximum tuition fee of £9,000. The tuition fees for studying at Henley College Coventry and City College Coventry for the 2012/2013 academic year are £3,800 for HND programmes and HNC tuition fees are £1,900.
In addition to the benefits of the lower fees, we also know that students like the smaller, more intimate environment that a college offers. You’ll get excellent one-to-one tuition with tutors who have a wealth of relevant industrial and commercial experience.
We are confident that by choosing to enrol on one of the courses offered at Henley College Coventry or City College Coventry and by taking advantage of our experience and excellent courses you will be best prepared to achieve all your educational and career objectives.

I am really enjoying the course and find that it has helped me with numerous strategies for teaching.

I have received a lot of support from my tutors.
science student
My name is Tom Urbanski and I’m a 26 year old
graduate of Henley College’s Access to Higher Education
course. I came to college after 8 years in the computer industry with plenty of ambition, but the tutors and support staff at Henley encouraged me to aim even higher than even I believed I was capable of – and here I am, less than one year later on with a place on a law degree at the University of Cambridge.
The college’s slogan “we believe, you achieve” seemed rather clichéd when I first saw it emblazoned on a huge billboard in the city centre. I can, however, now say that it is most definitely apt. Without the encouragement and belief of the staff, I would not be where I am today and, for that, I will be forever grateful.
My course consisted of modules in law, psychology and IT, as well as the core communications and study skills. It’s an intensive course; there’s always plenty of work to get on with and it can be difficult to juggle all of life’s demands along with the course, but (again with the clichés) you get out of the course what you put into it. If you can manage your time, stay motivated and put in plenty of effort, there’s absolutely no reason for you not to succeed – and your Access diploma could take you far!
If I could pinpoint one thing that I have really learnt during my time at Henley College, it would not be an academic thing. Instead, the most important thing that I feel that I have gained from doing the Access course is a sense of self-belief that I can now go ahead and do anything I want. It feels like the world is my oyster again! I would enthusiastically and wholeheartedly recommend an Access course at Henley College to anyone.

introduction to the course
Graduates from our HND computing course can progress on to a degree course, which can be completed in one year, either at Sheffield Hallam University/online with weekly personal contact at Henley College over two semesters or over four semesters (two years).
This means that new entrants to an HNC or HND computing qualification at Henley College can gain an honours degree in Computing in the same time span as those doing a full three-year degree course.
Obviously, completing a degree remotely (online) is less expensive and eliminates the need for accommodation and other costs.
Earlier HND graduates can apply to join the online version via Henley College.
There are two cohorts per year - September and January.
The course is designed and delivered by Sheffield Hallam; all delivery and tutorial support is facilitated online. The weekly contact sessions at Henley College will be for course management purposes and advice. In order to access and utilise the IT facilities at Henley College Coventry, you will need to be enrolled as a current student of the college, this will be a formality.
It should be noted that those undertaking this qualification will be enrolled as students of Sheffield Hallam University; with all of the benefits and kudos that entails: you will have access to all SHU facilities and you will graduate as a fully-fledged BSc (Hons) Applied Computing.
fees
Please contact Sheffield Hallam University for more information on fees. A reduced tuition fee is applicable if the student is continuing in education or a full top-up if returning to education.
