2019 SCHOLARSHIP PROCESS

1. The deadline for returning the completed application, required documentation, high school transcript. SAT/ACT scores and essays* is Sunday, April 14, 2019 .

2. Read the criteria for each scholarship carefully. You will be considered for all the scholarships that you fulfill all the requirements. You only need to submit one application.

ALL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICANTS MUST SATISFY THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS

3. We must receive your high school transcript – only one (1) copy is needed. Enclosed in this

packet is a letter for your High School counselor, requesting your high school to mail your official transcript, in a sealed envelope, directly to the church. Your transcript should include your scores from SAT and/or ACT. If your test scores are not on your transcript, you must provide an official copy of your test scores. Remind your high school counselor to put “Scholarship Ministry” on the envelope. NOTE: Do not wait until you submit your application to request your transcript from your school. We need to receive your transcript by the submission deadline date. Because this process may take some time, we recommend you request your transcript immediately.

4. Church membership is a requirement – Scholarships are for Enon members only. Student/applicant must be a member of ETBC for minimum of one (1) year as of September 1, 2019 (membership is marked as the date of your baptism/right-hand of fellowship at Enon). You must provide your Enon Envelope Number on the application form. Contact the church if you do not know your membership envelope number.

NOTE: Some scholarships require a longer period of membership.

5. Resume - All scholarship applicants must provide a student resume along with the application and other required documentation as stated in each scholarship’s criteria. Included in this packet is a sample resume. You do not have to follow the model, but your resume should include the following, with dates of involvement: a. Church ministries b. Extra-curricular school activities c. Community /Volunteer Service d. Employment e. Awards & honors f. Internships g. College Tours h. College Prep and/or Summer Programs for High School Students

6. ESSAY – One (1) Standard Essay is required to fulfill the minimum standard requirement for all applicants to be considered for all the scholarships. The Standard Essay* must be typed. At the top of each page of the essay, you must include your name and church envelope number. *NOTE: Many of the scholarships criteria require additional specific information in the essay. To be considered for those scholarships, your essay must include the requested topic within the body of the essay. Every applicant must submit, at the minimum, the Standard essay. We also urge every applicant to include the specified additional information/topics within the essay; therefore increasing the number of scholarships for which your are eligible.

a. STANDARD ESSAY – The purpose of the standard essay is to help us to know you better beyond your scholastic achievements that are shown in your transcript and test scores. The essay should not exceed 750 words. Each applicant must submit only one standard essay to fulfill the standard essay requirement for all the scholarships. Carefully read all the scholarships’ essay requirements and address them within your standard essay. Be sure to include all the topics/items required for each scholarship you wish to be considered for within the one standard essay. At the top of each page of the essay, you must include your name, church envelope number, the label/heading “2019 Standard Essay”, and the page number. At a minimum, your standard essay should address each (all) of the following:

• Academic Accomplishments

• Academic Challenges

• Activities in school, community and at Enon. Tell how these activities have positively impacted your life

• Family – include parental/household make-up, siblings, parental support, problems

• Life Changes – drastic changes, both positive and challenging, in your life (i.e. economic hardship, illness/disease, change of address/school, separation and/or divorce)

• Future Goals – include career goals, employment, college choice, college major, continuing education (graduate/professional schools)

b. SPECIFIC ESSAY – A separate essay, in addition to the Standard Essay, that is written for the specified topic only. At the top of each page of the essay, you must include your name, church envelope number and the name of the scholarship for which the essay is being submitted. Only those applicants that submit the required Specific Essay will be considered for that scholarship.

7. MINISTRY PARTICIPATION is required of all scholarship applicants. Applicants must submit the enclosed Enon Ministry form with the required signatures and dates of ministry participation. Please do not submit the form without the signatures. It is the responsibility of each applicant to obtain the signatures of the adult servant leaders or the ministry’s community associate pastor for each ministry you have participated in at Enon during your high school years.

8. Scholarship recipients may be asked to participate in future Scholarship Ministry’s events and

workshops.

11. On the last page of this packet, you will find the 2019 Graduate Recognition Registration and Information Form for your convenience. You must complete and submit the form, separately from your scholarship packet, to participate in the annual Enon Graduate Recognition Worship Service. Your Enon church family looks forward to celebrating your academic accomplishments at the annual Enon Graduate Recognition Worship Service on Saturday, June 8, 2019.

12. Selected applicants only will receive a letter, via postal mail, informing them that they have been selected to receive a scholarship. The letter will NOT indicate which scholarship the applicant was awarded. The 2019 Scholarship Announcements will take place on Sunday, June 9, 2019 during the 9:45am worship service at Enon East and recipients are expected to be present at the service.

Documentation Labeling This is very important. All documentation from all applicants must be duplicated. This means we need to be able to identify all the pieces that belong to you. Therefore, it is imperative that each piece of your documentation is identifiable. At the minimum, your name must be on each piece; preferably your name and church envelope number. If you are submitting multiple essays, be sure the pages are numbered and each page has a heading (i.e. Standard Essay, Specific Essay – Career in Fashion)

Standard Essay

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” Nelson Mandela As I begin to reflect on my high school experience I realize that many of the accomplishments I am most proud were built on the back of failures unseen. My transcript and awards speak to my accomplishments, but in refection if I had not fallen a few times and decided to get back up, none of those accolades would be possible. I am recovering from math phobia. Even if it is not a real phobia according to Webster’s dictionary, it is real to me. I never performed poorly in mathematics, but in elementary school I did well because I was able to plug in numbers. When I got to high school I was unable to just use formulas to get good grades. Teachers began to ask me the “why” behind the answer and I began to drown. I was taught to figure out answers, and I was good at that task. When I was asked in my pre-calculus class to explain my answers in a deeper way I became frustrated. What difference did it make why the answer was the answer? I am the oldest of four siblings and my parents have instilled in all of us the importance of education. The sympathy I looked for at home wasn’t there. They told me to pray, study and communicate with my teacher. So, I did. I went to school and began to ask questions and study harder and slowly the cloud of confusion lifted. That first semester of pre-calculus I earned my first C in a mathematics course ever! I was very proud of this grade because the journey I traveled to earn that grade was truly my own. By the end of the course I had an A-, and that is all that appears on my transcript, but I am more proud of my process than the grade I earned by the end. I am a proud member of Enon and I am grateful for the opportunities my church has afforded me. The major lesson I learned from all the tournaments I lost, competitions in which I didn’t place first and even the sermons from one Sunday to next are that of resiliency. If Jesus Christ could die so that I could live, then I should live this life to the fullest. There is no way I can quit or speak of what I can’t do with the example of love He provided. In conclusion, I am proud of what my transcripts and awards say about my character. My transcript doesn’t speak of my future aspirations, dreams and strong will to succeed. I will one day be an educator who will impact the community I came from. Although I know that I will not become a millionaire with this career choice, I will be able to give back a small portion of the hope and dreams that were given to me.

2019 SCHOLARSHIPS for HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ETBC “SCHOLAR of the YEAR” SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church Endowment Fund) This $4000 non-renewable scholarship is available to a student who has been accepted as a full-time student to an accredited institution. The recipient is a high-achieving student who is outstanding in the classroom, in the community, and at Enon. Selection will be based upon an unweighted GPA, extra-curricular activities, and service to Enon. The criteria for this scholarship is:

• Minimum Standard Criteria

• Enon member for a minimum of two (2) years as of September 1, 2019

• High Achiever in Classroom, Community (Extra-Curricular Activities) and at Enon (Service through Ministry)

ETBC “COMMUNITY SERVICE” SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church Endowment Fund) This $3000 non-renewable scholarship is based upon service to the community, as documented by the supervisor of the community agencies/activities. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Standard Essay must include how your service has impacted you and the community you served

• Minimum academic GPA of 2.5 or more

• Submit a letter from your community service activities, including dates of involvement on official letterhead

AUBREY B. JONES JR. ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Diane Branch Jones) New in 2019. This new $3500 non-renewable scholarship is in loving memory of Mr. Aubrey B. Jones Jr., who was among the first Black students to graduate from the University of Virginia School of Engineering. Aubrey Jones was the project manager/administrator for the construction of Enon East building project-freely giving his expertise, knowledge and time. He also worked as the first Black professional in many major companies, was an author, and developed an educational program used by the Philadelphia School District. This scholarship is awarded to a worthy high school senior or undergraduate student who plans to major in engineering. He or she should have a good grade point average, participate or volunteer in a church or community activity to give back. He or she must have a positive attitude and believe that he or she will meet their goal.

For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• From a Single-Parent Household, preferably (include in essay)

• Standard Essay – include the life challenges you have and/or are having

• Major in Engineering, preferably NOTE: This scholarship is also available to a current undergraduate, but preference will be given to

a high school senior

2019 SCHOLARSHIPS for HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

MARION BAGWELL MITCHELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Mitchell) New in 2019. This new $3000 non-renewable scholarship is established to honor the late mother of Mr. Dennis Mitchell. Marion Mitchell was born in Melfa, VA (located in Accomac County, VA – better known as the Eastern Shore) on March 05, 1939. She was the youngest of eight children and played the organ at the family’s church as a teen. Marion would later relocate to Brooklyn, New York as a young adult. Through her love of God, her faith and her determination Marion would go on to raise three children within a NYC public housing development. Marion transitioned on March 20, 2009 and left behind three successful children to carry on her legacy. This scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior who has been accepted at and will continue their studies at an accredited institution of higher education and has demonstrated perseverance and determination while being raised by a single mother.

WILLIAM R. MILLER IV SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Brother William R Miller Family) This $2500 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by the family of the late Brother William R. Miller IV and will be awarded to an African-American male based on community service. The recipient is a graduating High School senior who has been accepted as a full-time student, at an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education (college, trade school, vocational, etc.) and has demonstrated serving/helping others in his family, school and/or community To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• African-American Male

• Minimum academic GPA of 2.5 or higher

• Documented Community Service – submit letter(s), on official stationery, detailing the community service the applicant has provided during his years in high school.


THOMAS and JEAN HARRIS GIFTED HANDS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Sister Tawnee’ Harris-Stewart and Sister Trina Harris) This $2500 non-renewable scholarship is in honor of Thomas and Jean Harris, the parents of Terri, Tonya, Tawnee’ and Trina Harris; parents committed to God, to family, to life, to outreach to others and who raised and taught their girls to grab hold tight to life, own it and live it to internal fulfillment. God had naturally gifted their hands; Thomas used his hands for multiple crafts and talents and mainly his passion for carpentry and home remodeling while Jean’s seamstress and tailoring skills were passionately used to make most of their girls’ clothing. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student to pursue their passion by continuing their education, either at a college or a vocational/technical trade school, in a field that will use their God-given gift or a student committed to outreach their community and others.

To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Standard Essay includes description of your gifts, passions and/or community outreach and how you’ve use them to bless others.

• Community service/outreach documented by a letter from organization where you served on official letterhead, if applicable

• Preference for a letter of recommendation from a teacher/instructor on official school letterhead, if applicable NOTE: This scholarship is also available to a current undergraduate, but preference will be given to a high school senior

PROFESSOR JAY ALLEN BUCHANON JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Vivian S. Buchanon) New in 2019. This new $2000.00 non-renewable Scholarship is in memory of my beloved late husband; Jay Allen Buchanon, Jr. Jay was a business and accounting professor who started out playing football for West Chester University and ended his career playing on the practice team for the Philadelphia Eagles. Jay never felt that he was a good student, but yet when he could no longer play football, he went on to receive two masters’ degrees and was one class from completing his coursework for a doctorate degree. Jay was an athlete, football coach, college professor and a mentor. He would be honored if an athlete was awarded a scholarship in his name. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Minimum GPA 2.5

• Written Proof of Athletic participation


INDABA FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by The INDABA Foundation) ”Indaba” is a south African word meaning “meeting or gathering”, usually to discuss business. This $2000 non-renewable scholarship is to be awarded to a “at risk” High School senior on the way to discovering his/her dream. This scholarship is available to a high school senior, accepted at an accredited undergraduate institution as a full-time student, on their way to seeing their dream become a reality. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• An “at risk” child with financial challenges

• Enrolled/participant in extra-curricular activities/interests outside of church and school (NOTE: excluding football and basketball)

• Specific Essay – 100-150 words essay, in addition to the Standard essay, explaining what you would like to do if granted the opportunity and if there were no barriers; where in the world would you travel. Include what are some of your favorite things and what do you do well.

NOTE: This scholarship is also available to an elementary private school student, but preference will be given to a high school senior THE REV. DR. ALFRED M. WALLER SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Reverend Dr. Alyn E. Waller) This $1500 non-renewable scholarship is based upon improvement, as evidenced by a change in grades, redirected goals, and/or the ability to overcome tremendous odds. The criteria for this scholarship is:


• Standard Essay must include your improvement, as evidenced by a change in grades, redirected goals, and/or the ability to overcome tremendous odds.

• Minimum academic GPA of 2.5 or more KATHERINE D. BARCLIFT SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Bro. Terrence and Sister Paulette Barclift) This $1,500 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by Bro Terrence and Sis Paulette Barclift to honor Katherine D. Barclift, a young widowed mother of 5 who ensured a quality education for her children. This scholarship is available to a graduating high-school senior, from a single parent household, who will continue their studies at an accredited college or trade school and is actively involved in the church and committed to doing God’s work. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Standard Essay must include single parent household Note: This scholarship is also offered to a full-time undergraduate student.


DEACONS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Deacon Ministry of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church) This $1500 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by the Deacon Ministry in memory of all deceased Enon deacons. The scholarship is based upon service to the church and a G.P.A. of 2.75. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Minimum academic GPA of 2.75

FIDELIA WILSON HOLMES SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Tara S. Holmes) This $1500 non-renewable scholarship has been made available by the family of the late Sister Fidelia Holmes for a student preferably studying nursing, medical related studies, or education/teaching (health). It is based upon service to the church, service to the community and minimum academic GPA of 3.0 or more. The criteria for this scholarship is:


• Standard Essay must include your contribution to the church, service to the community and/or school

ROBERT E. KNIGHT SCHOLARSHIP (Funded by the Estate of Brother Knight) This $1500 non-renewable scholarship is made available by an endowment bequeathed by the late Brother Robert E. Knight. This scholarship is designated to the average student who has demonstrated a commitment to the pursuit of higher education, as evidenced by active participation and regular attendance at school and church. The criteria for this scholarship:

• List of community service activities must be included on your resume WILLIE L. GAMBRELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Donna M. Gambrell, Brother William A. Gambrell and a family friend) This $1200 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored in memory of Willie L. Gambrell by his loving wife, Sister Donna M. Gambrell, his son, Brother William A. Gambrell and a family friend Ms. Darlene Tansmore, It is available to a female high school senior with service to the church and service to the community. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

VINCENT P. ANDREWS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by The Andrews Family) This $1100 non-renewable scholarship has been made available in memory of Vincent P. Andrews, who lost his life in an accident at SEPTA, where he worked as a first-class electrical high-wire technician. The recipient must be a high school MALE, with a GPA of 3.0 or more and participated in service to the church, service to the community, and part-time employment.

• Submit proof of part-time employment CONRAD MILLER SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by his loving wife Carla Stinnette-Miller) New in 2019. This new $1000.00 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of C. Conrad Miller, who was a technically trained vocalist and musician with an anointing and appointing to share and spread the Love of Jesus Christ through music. Conrad was a devoted member of Enon’s music ministry. Conrad released 3 CDs, titled “My Journey”, “Keep Pressing” and “Thankful”. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Attending an accredited HBCU BARBARA CARR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Deacon Nate Carr) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of Barbara Carr, who was the loving wife of Deacon Nate Carr and a long-time Enon member with an extraordinary love and dedication for children. Sister Carr served Enon with the distinction of being the first female servant leader of the Trustee Ministry. It is available to a student majoring in Early Childhood Education. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

EDNA’S KIDS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Shadina Gardner) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of Edna Groover, the matriarch of four generations. Edna was passionate about education, spiritual growth and development. A graduate of Bartram High School, she retired from the Naval Shipyard. At the age of 70, Edna became a crossing guard in southwest Philadelphia for 5 years where she enjoyed watching over children and influencing them to make positive choices. This scholarship is available to a graduating high school student with extra curricula school activities and community service who has been accepted as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:


• Minimum G.P.A. of 3.0

• Involvement in at least one (1) Extra-Curricular activity (at School) and at least one (1) Community Service activity (Tutoring, Big Brother – Big Sister, Mentoring, Volunteer Work, etc.) – included on your resume

• Standard Essay – include your relationship with a senior/elderly citizen that has a positive influence on you.

ENON MALE CHORUS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by The Male Chorus of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church Male Chorus and to be awarded to a male high school senior who will be a full-time student at an accredited college or university with a major or minor in music. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

MAGGIE L. FINGERS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Family and Friends of Maggie L. Fingers) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of the late Maggie L. Fingers, an Arkansas civil rights pioneer and longtime volunteer. This scholarship is for a graduating high school student with demonstrated church and community service and who, preferably, will attend a Historically Black College and University (HBUC) as a full-time student. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

HOPES AND DREAMS OF PHILLY SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by The Brown Family) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by the Brown family, all who are graduates of Philadelphia high schools. It is for a high school senior, graduating from a Philadelphia high school, who has made academic growth during their high school years. The student has achieved a “B” average and participates in extra-curricular activities outside of school. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior who will be attending a 2 or 4 year college or university to pursue a career in a field for which they have a passion. The recipient of this scholarship has been accepted at and will continue their education as a full-time student at an accredited institute. JOHNSON ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Brother Cecil and Sister Shawna Johnson) These two (2) - $1000 non-renewable scholarships are sponsored by Cecil and Shawna Johnson and are available to high school seniors. The recipients have been involved in extra-curricular activities at school while remaining academically strong. The students have been accepted as full-time students, at an accredited college or university. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

Lewis who was the loving mother of nine children that she raised to love the Lord. Gwendolyn was a single parent who taught her children the importance of giving. She had a heart for children and those less fortunate. This scholarship is available to a graduating high school African-American female student, from a single parent or guardian household, who will major in Education or the Health Care field as a full-time student at an accredited institution. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

PHILADELPHIA HIGH SCHOOL for GIRLS ALUMNAE SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Enon’s Alumnae of Philadelphia High School for Girls) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship was established by Enon members from the Girls High Class of 1980 in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of their high school graduation. The scholarship is funded by Girls High graduates, at Enon, from all classes. It is available to a Philadelphia High School for Girls senior with leadership and/or community service activities. The criteria for this scholarship is:


• Preferable academic GPA of 3.0 or more

• Standard Essay must include your leadership and/or community service activities and how this award will make a difference to you


PSALM 150 DEACON IRVING R. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Scholarship Ministry of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church) This $1000 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of the late Deacon Irving R. Smith, a long-time member of Enon and the Enon scholarship ministry, who served as the ministry’s chaplain and was instrumental in the formation of the Enon Scholarship investments with the Raymond James Financial Services group. Deacon Smith had a love for God, family, church, youth and music. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates an interest in music either as an extra-curricular activity, instructional student or as a major course study. Music interest/instruction can be instrumental and/or vocal. The criteria for this scholarship is:

MARY LEE STEADMAN BOLGER SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Dr. Charles & Sister Davida Bolger) This $500 non-renewable scholarship is in honor the Christian example of Mary Lee Steadman Bolger. Sister Bolger was the valedictorian of her class at Holly Hill High School in South Carolina, was married to the late Reverend Charles Bolger, Sr for fifty-four years and was the mother to six children. She served on the Ministers’ Wives and Widows Evening Conference of Philadelphia. Her favorite scripture is Psalm 1:3, “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in the season; his leaf shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.” This scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior who will be attending an accredited university or college as a full-time student.



BROWNING_DAVIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Cheryl Browning) These two (2) $500 non-renewable scholarships are established in memory of the deceased members of the Browning and Davis families. They are sponsored by Cheryl Browning, an advocate for higher education. Each scholarship is available to students studying at a 2-year or 4-year accredited institution and knows the importance of higher education. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

Cannon, the children of Dorothy White Cannon, a prominent supporter of the higher education system. ERNEST COLLINS DENNIS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

(Sponsored by The Dennis Family)

This $500 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of Ernest Collins Dennis who was the loving husband of Sister

Juanita E. Dennis and the devoted father of Sister Linda S. Dennis and Brother Ernest Dennis. Ernest Collins Dennis attended Central High School for Boys from about 1941–1944. After high school, he joined the United States Army serving in World War II during the Korean conflict. After being honorably discharged from the service, he worked for the United States Postal Service until his death in 1960 from heart disease.

This scholarship is available to a full time FEMALE student with a GPA of 3.0 or more who is majoring in the Health or Science field.

JAMES JEFFERSON SR. and JOHN ROBERT REED SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Brother Solomon and Sister Jamila Jefferson) This $500 non-renewable scholarship in memory of our fathers James Jefferson Sr. & John Robert Reed, will be awarded to a student pursuing secondary education as a means of helping someone, preferably raised by a single parent, grandparent, has an incarcerated parent or is a part of the foster care system. This scholarship is for a student who will be continuing their studies at an accredited college or university or a trade school. DONNA MARIE JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Antoinette Howard) This $500 non-renewable scholarship is in memory of our beloved sister, the late Donna Marie Johnson. The recipient must be a graduating high school female senior who has earned a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0, has overcome challenges in life, and will be preferably majoring in Social Work at an accredited institution as a full-time student. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:



• Standard Essay which must include your life events or challenges that helped shaped you into the person you are now. Also include why you’ve chosen to major in Social Work (or your intended major), your future goals and how they will impact the lives of others.

• Letter from an Enon Associate Pastor or an adult ministry leader stating your regular attendance/participation at Enon church services and/or ministries.

NOTE: This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior, preferably. It can also be awarded to an undergraduate student.

FRANCES M. JONES SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Portfolio Associates, Inc. and Sister Frances M. Jones) This $500 non-renewable scholarship is in honor of the work Frances M. Jones has done and is doing to protect, educate, and change the lives of young women and men who find or have found themselves in dire circumstances. This scholarship is for a High School Senior who has overcome an adverse circumstance and was able to put herself/himself on the right track towards completing their education. McMillan who was an alumnus of NCA&T and an educator and in memory of Oliver K. Pinckney a Christian educator, mentor and role model. This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who will be attending NC A&T or Eastern University or a Historically Black College or University. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

MISSIONARY MINISTRY SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Missionary Ministry of Enon) This $500 non-renewable scholarship is based upon service to the church, service to the community and minimum academic GPA of 2.5 or more. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:



ESTHER MARIE PARRISH PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by The Parrish Family) This $500 non-renewable scholarship has been made available in memory of Esther Marie Parrish, a family matriarch and the loving mother of Leah and Christina Parrish-Jenkins. Esther Parrish was a consummate lover of Gospel music and lent her voice to church and community choirs. This scholarship is available to a high school senior, from a single-parent household, majoring in Performing Arts at an accredited undergraduate institution as a full-time student. To be considered for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

DAVID & CLARINE PETTY SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Ellen J. Petty) This $500 non-renewable scholarship is sponsored by Ellen L. For this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

COREY MICHAEL PHILLIPS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by Sister Darnell Lawson) This $500 non-renewable scholarship, in memory of Corey Michael Phillips, is provided by his family and friends. The recipient must be a male high school senior who has been raised in a single parent household. This scholarship is for a male high school senior who has been accepted as a full-time student to an accredited college, university or vocational/trade post-secondary school. SANDRA RAE “HONEY” PRYOR-OXENDINE SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the late Brother Richard Oxendine) Two (2) $500 non-renewable scholarships were established by the late Brother Richard Oxendine in loving memory of his late wife, Sandra Rae “Honey” Pryor-Oxendine to assist two (2) students in meeting their financial need for continuing their education. The recipients are graduating High School seniors who have been accepted as full-time students, at an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. SMITH FAMILY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Smith and Robinson Families) The Smith and Robinson families, members of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church for over fifty years, offer a $500 non-renewable scholarship in memory of the late Deacon Irving R. Smith, Sister Margaret Smith, and Daniel Irving Smith who were loved very much by their family, church and friends. In this global society where the sciences are vital and where women have traditionally been underrepresented, the 2 non-renewable scholarships, sponsored by Darniece Shirley, are for 2 FEMALE high school seniors entering college to pursue a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) major. This scholarship targets these future leaders in order to help fuel the global economy, encourage innovation and creativity and yield a strong ethical foundation for decision-making. NYKKI THOMAS SCHOLARSHIP (Sponsored by the Thomas Family) This $500 non-renewable scholarship, in memory of Nykki Thomas, will be awarded to a student pursuing secondary education as a means of helping someone. Elementary School

1. Student’s elementary school must have a graduation ceremony.

2. If graduating elementary school student is not a member of Enon, one of

the student’s parents must be a member of Enon.

(You must supply the student’s and/or parent’s membership number).

Middle/Jr. High School

1. If graduating middle school student is not a member of Enon, one of

the student’s parents must be a member of Enon.

(You must supply the student’s and/or parent’s membership number).

High School

1. The graduating high school student must be a member of Enon.

2. Student must complete the school’s requirements for graduation at the

end of the school year. If student needs to attend summer classes to

fulfill graduation requirements, student must participate in next year’s

Graduate Recognition service at Enon.

GED Graduates

1. The graduating student must have attended the GED program at Enon.

2. The graduate must have successfully completed the state required program by

passing the examinations by May of the current year.

3. The leadership of the GED program at Enon will submit the names of the

graduating students.

All College Graduates

1. The graduating college student must be a member of Enon.

2. The graduate must complete the school’s required hours for earning the

degree by August of this year to participate in the service in June.

Students completing their degree program after August 2019 will

participate in next year’s Graduate Recognition service.
