The band has been performing in the Capital Region for approximately two and a half years. Band members include Tom Raider as John Lennon, Brad Jarvis as Paul McCartney, Rick Bedrosian as George Harrison, Don Ackerman as Ringo Star and the fifth Beatle, keyboardist Rich Coogan. The band are fans of the Beatles’ entire musical spectrum ranging from the early Sullivan years to the famous Abbey Road. The concerts replicate the unique look and sound of the Beatles’ from the costumes, mop top haircuts and imported Liverpool Boots to the Rickenbacker, Gretsh, Hofner and Epiphone guitars, Vox amps and Ludwig drums, perfecting every detail of the show. The Town of Long Lake will provide a local shuttle bus service to and from homes, lodgings and restaurants within the town limits from 5p.m. until midnight to anyone interested in dining out at an area restaurant or going out after the show. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a new feature will be on hand: Zorb Ball Races, which are new to the festival this year. “They call them giant human hamster balls and you get inside them!” Marquis said. These races will take place at the driving range because it is a flat area. “We are very excited to have these!” Marquis said there is a 200-pound limit for those who wish to take part in this event. At 1 p.m., there will be ski/shoe/sled relay races, with three person teams, consisting of one cross country skier, one snowshoer and one sledder. This event is presented by the Tupper Lake Recreation Department. At 2 p.m. there will be a Green Sledding Competition. Participants must make a sled out of recycled materials such as a cardboard box, old hamper, cookie sheet, etc. and enter the sledding competition. There is a $50 first place prize and a $25 second place prize. There will be free cookies and water, in the Pro-Shop warming shack until supplies are gone. There will also be a sledding hill, cross-country skiing on groomed trails, snow shoeing, bonfire and more! There will also be long-sleeve Fire and Ice Festival shirts for $20 each and buttons for $5 available for purchase. “The weather should not bother what we are trying to do,” Marquis said, urging the community to attend this year's Fire and Ice Festival. “So come on out! Everybody can come out, invite your family up from out of town and we can celebrate Tupper Lake style!” Next year Marquis said she hopes the Fire and Ice Festival will continue to grow. She said the best way for community members, groups or organizations to get involved or share their ideas and feedback is to visit the festival’s Facebook page, which is listed as Fire and Ice Festival. Marquis said she wanted to thank everyone on her committee who worked to organize this year’s festival, including Stuart Nichols, Kate Bencze, Alex Logie and Jim LaValley for listening to her ideas.
