Hey DWJ musicians!! It’s Mr Vince here with your first musical challenge. Some of you will not have access to GarageBand but for those that do, let’s get creating! Below are a set of instructions for creating a full song out of live instruments on GarageBand. In our sessions last year, we used the software to create drum tracks and to add melodies to our rhythm tracks. Now you can create a complete song with drums, bass, rhythm and lead. The guide encourages the use of smart instruments which will ensure that your racks are all in the same key (meaning they’ll complement each other and not clash). Follow the same chord/ note selection throughout to build a strong rhythm section. Be creative and ask questions if you get stuck or it doesn’t work as expected. Garage band is free so if you don’t have it yet, download it, it’s super fun.
