19% of the world's electricity goes on artificial illumination.Today, low-energy lamps could bring CO2emissions down by 42,5 million tonnesannually.

The high level of energy efficiency of LEDsmakes an important contribution to climateprotection: because they use very little electricity, CO2 emission is reduced; savingresources ecologically goes hand in hand with using them economically.

An important contribution to protecting the environment

On top of this, lower emission from manu-facturing, ecologically friendly productionmethods and less environmental pollution from transportation and disposal all help to produce the excellent energy balance ofdiode technology.

Compared with a halogen lamp of the samelight output, the LED is not only distinguishedby significantly lower energy consumption,greater economic and luminous efficiency butalso by its exceptionally long service life ofup to 100000 hours.

Superior energy balance

Operating maintenance-free for 6 hours a day, 250 days a year, the useful life of a white LED is 33 years and over. A halogen lamp, in contrast,needs replacing after approximately 1,3 years.

40% of the energy used by an LED is convertedinto light and only 60% into heat. For halogenlamps, this ratio is around 10 to 90%.

In addition to long useful life, the economicbenefits of LEDs are primarily the result of lowoperating and maintenance costs. Their compactdimensions, impact and vibration resistance, low heat build-up and high quality of light make them predestined for virtually all areasdemanding the use of innovative, energy andcost-efficient lighting technology.

Using 80% less energy than a halogen lamp and therefore far cheaper to operate, the LED'stremendous energy-saving potential is obvious.
