What’s Wrong With Satellites?Hugely expensive to build and launchLaunches are dependent on, and at

the mercy of, multiple extraneous factors

Repairs/equipment upgrades require manned space missions and are expensive and take time to arrange

This means:There is a huge opportunity for an

easier and lower-cost solutionThis will also reduce the barriers to

adoption of this kind of technology by many possible users

Page 3: Hermes ATMOSAT Project - Public Pitch Deck - Mar15

The SolutionThese are:Purpose-Built Unmanned Aerial

Vehicles (UAVs)Solar-Powered (using the very latest

‘Gallium Panel’ technology)Very High Altitude (c. 20 km)Very Long Range (can fly for 5-6

years non-stop)Can Carry Large Payloads (up to 180

kg)Ground-controlled (without needing

other satellites for control and communications)

Easy to land and re-launch quickly i.e. for repairs (within 4-5 hrs max).

‘Atmospheric Satellites’ or ATMOSAT

ATMOSAT Applications/UsesProviding hugely cost-effective internet and mobile

coverage, especially for remoter/poorer infrastructure regions of the world

alsoCommercial, defence/military , civilian/humanitarian

and police/anti-terrorist surveillanceWeather, sea and land traffic, agricultural, mining

and other monitoringSystems control and co-ordination for land and sea

vehicles and other UAVsBoosting, relaying and providing television and

radio signals

plans or activities since acquisition

Hermes Aerospace Corporation will be only the 3rd player in this potentially hugely lucrative market, and arguably the only one making its technology widely commercially available. It will be years ahead of any other, later entrants.
