wait to put Banner on the spot.~ LOW RATES, LOW COST PER DAY; FEWER SPRAYS.

Banner's new chemistry is so powerful, just 1 to 2 ounces per1,000 square feet is all you need.

These low rates and long residual mean lower cost per day ofcontrol. Less chemical, low rates and long residual also mean Ban-ner performs with fewer applications which makes Banner the pre-ferred treatment where environmental considerations are important.

Put Banner on the spot. And get longerlasting, systemic control of dollar spot andbrown patch.

VOLUME THREE, NUMBER SEVEN JULY 1987

MAIN EVENTS14 TURF RACES ARE THE SPICE OF LIFE

AT SUFFOLK DOWNSThe popularity of horse races on turf tracks has grown steadily since 1958 when SuffolkDowns in East Boston, MA built a seven-furlong turf oval inside its dirt track. FromMemorial Day to November, six races per week are run on the perennial ryegrass turfcourse. In 20 years the number of races on the turf has increased from 60 to 260 a year. For three generations, it has been the job of the Pini family to keep both tracks in topracing condition. Steve Pini recently improved the drainage, mowing and maintenance ofthe turf track as part of a major improvement program by Belle Isle Limited Partnership, agroup led by Boston sports figure Buddy LeRoux.

22 WEMBLEY STADIUM: THE IISUPER PITCH"OF AMERICAN FOOTBALLNext month the Denver Broncos and the Los Angeles Rams will treat a sold-out crowd ofBritish sports fans in Wembley Stadium to only the third exhibition of American footballever held in England. Since the first exhibition game between the Minnesota Vikings andthe St. Louis Cardinals in 1984, Sam Monson of the Vikings has advised the Wembleyhead groundsmen on how to turn the historic pitch into a "Super Bowl" for one day inAugust. Monson has learned to work between frequent rain showers to get the pitch readyfor this international event. The National Football League, pleased by the success ofWembley, is exploring offers from other cities outside the U.S. for pre-season exhibitionsof American football.
