June 2012

What an exciting start to 2012!

Your Foundation has made significant strides to move us towards our goal of “Being one of the most generous communities in America by providing $1,000,000 every year in programs, grants and human capital.”

We have:• Cemented an affiliation with St Croix Valley Foundation allowing

us to fall under their professional umbrella, while maintaining our independence.

• Achieved significant cost savings through the affiliation, a reduction in operating expenses of $50,000 per year.

• Graduated 19 more students from our Leadership Trust Initiative Program.

• Added 23 participants to LTI-4• Initiated a new grant cycle which will close 6/2012• Saw our total asset base exceed $1,500,000• Initiate the planning cycle for the perpetuation of the Community

Commons.

We truly appreciate your support of the Foundation. We choose to be a catalyst and conduit for improving the fabric of our community. You are helping do exactly that!

Sincerely,

The Foundation A foundation is the place where you come to build the community you long for. The Foundation has been providing citizens the opportunity to improve the area’s quality of life through on-going, community building efforts for over 30 years. The Foundation’s efforts and contributions, since its inception in 1980, have been directed to community building activities that the benefactors have felt most strongly about. By collaborating with us you will sustain a legacy of community caring and sharing that dates back to the cyclone of 1899.

The fruits of the Foundation’s efforts can be found in many places in New Richmond and surrounding communities:

The recreational trail system Youth and family programsHealth and wellness activities Support of school district initiativesLeadership training Community enhancement projects We believe that being engaged in giving back to one’s community is an essential component of local citizenship. This belief is represented in the core values of the foundation, philanthropy, leadership and collaboration. As a foundation we have given back to this community over 160 times.

The Foundation is made up of your friends, colleagues and neighbors. Our community foundation is a public entity created by and for the people of the New Richmond area. We enable individuals to effectively support causes they care about, through both financial and non-financial contributions. As we engage in service-based philanthropy, we are committed to cultivating the dreams of our citizens; nurturing the possibilities for our communities; facilitating the leadership and developing the resources necessary to bring these dreams and possibilities into reality.

The prosperity of any community depends on how well the growth can be nourished. Please contact us today so you can help us build the community you want.

Program Spotlight:Leadership Trust Initiative (LTI)LTI is a part of the Front Porch Project and is offered in conjunction with the New Richmond Area Community Foundation (NRACF). 2012 is the fourth year this program is being offered to New Richmond area community citizens. The training will be facilitated by Patrick Overton, Director of the Front Porch Project.

LTI-4 is a nine session experience beginning the end of May. The meetings consist of a wide variety of learning opportunities including printed resources, interactive group discussion on timely leadership issues, specific leadership practice experiences, outside speakers, panels, videos, community creativity projects and many other opportunities. These experiences are all designed to assist participants in exploring the principles and practice of citizen-leadership.

Each year the LTI participants include a mix of emerging and established leaders; diverse cultural backgrounds; wide representation from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors; and representative geographical locations within the New Richmond area.
