Obesity Facts*Children who are overweight are at a much higher risk as adults for developing chronic health conditions.*Child obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years.*U.S.: the % of children aged 6-11 years who were obese increased 7% in 1980 to nearly 20% in 2008.*Childhood obesity is the result of eating too many calories and not getting enough physical activity.*Health effects: immediate & long-term (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, bone/joint problems, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer).
