Help shape your community! The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments has been working to advance the Lowcountry Rapid Transit project and an important step in the process is to initiate a study for transit oriented development around the proposed bus rapid transit station areas.
Transit oriented development, also referred to as TOD, consists of thoughtfully creating livable, walkable communities within close proximity to public transit stations.
Lowcountry Rapid Transit is a critical component in the evolution of South Carolina’s transportation infrastructure. This proposed 26-mile bus rapid transit system would connect the communities of Charleston, North Charleston and Summerville along the US 78/US 52 (Rivers Avenue) corridor. Bus rapid transit has comparable reliability, capacity and comfort of light rail but with the flexibility of a bus, and features recognizable stations, semi-dedicated lanes, pre-paid fare collection and technology advancements.
Join the LCRT project team at Community Workshops to find out more about TOD and provide input into your vision for growth along the corridor.
The agenda for each workshop will include:
6:30 to 8:00 p.m. – Interactive place-making and visioning exercises
