What about
HelMSIC?
HelMSIC - Hellenic Medical Students’ International Committee is an independent, non-governmental, nonprofit, non-political organization run by medical students in Greece. It was founded in 1958 and as of today, it has 7 Local Committees, one in every medical faculty of Greece. Our activities and projects are centered on six thematics, our Standing Committees. Research and Professional Exchanges, Public Health, Reproductive Health and HIV/AIDS, Human Rights and Peace, and Medical Education. Our Local and National Officers mainly organize projects under these thematics. Our projects aim to train medical students on topics that are not fully included in our curricula, to develop their skills, to raise awareness about health issues, and to promote the international cooperation between medical students.

HelMSIC works on a national level with Medicines Sans Frontiers (MSF), Medicines du Monde (MDM), Therapy Centre for Dependent Individuals (KETHEA), AIESEC, ACT UP, and other NGOs and Governmental Organizations mainly on project based collaboration. HelMSIC is also an active member of both IFMSA - the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations and EMSA- the European Medical Students' Association. Through its participation in these international organizations and International Meetings, HelMSIC is the voice of Greek Medical Students abroad and the main channel of communication, cooperation and training in an international level.

Patras
Situated in northern Peloponnese Patras is Greece's third
largest urban area and the regional capital of Western Greece.
Why Patras?
Because it is a bustling student city, a place where
entertainment, history and culture mingle together to create a
destination filled with wonderful discoveries!
![Page 8: HelMSIC SCORE Exchanges Information Booklet](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022020504/568c53f71a28ab4916bceddc/html5/thumbnails/8.jpg)

Heraklion (Crete)
Heraklion is the largest city and the administrative capital
of the island of Crete, Greece. It is one of the largest
cities in Greece.
Why Heraklion?
It is a bustling, modern and dynamic city, filled with history in the nearby Minoan ruins of Knossos while further inland bucolic vistas of hillsides, full of olive trees and vines make it a beautiful place!
![Page 9: HelMSIC SCORE Exchanges Information Booklet](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022020504/568c53f71a28ab4916bceddc/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
9
Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki, is the second-largest city in Greece and the
second major economic, industrial, commercial and political
center.
Why Thessaloniki?
It is a fun, cultured, walkable small city with enduring symbols of a glorious history!
![Page 10: HelMSIC SCORE Exchanges Information Booklet](https://reader030.fdocuments.net/reader030/viewer/2022020504/568c53f71a28ab4916bceddc/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)

Larissa
Larissa is a principal agricultural center and also a major
commercial and industrial center in Greece. Legend has it
that Achilles was born here, and that Hippocrates, the
Father of Medicine, died there.
Why Larissa?
A sizeable city in the Thessalian plain whose sights and
old market quarter maintain an intact color of its past and
the center has been 70% pedestrianized, so it is ideal for
a pleasant stroll! In the northern outskirts of the city you
can glimpse the soaring peak of Mount Olympus on a
good day. And if you happen to be into farming, you can
check out what’s being planted in the endless acres of flat
fields across which a small train trundles for the hour-long
trip to Volos and Mount Pillion.

Alexandroupolis
Situated in of northeastern Greece Alexandroupolis is a city in
Greece and the capital of the Evros regional unit in East
Macedonia and Thrace. It is an important port and
commercial center.
Why Alexandroupolis?
With its strategic position, a crossroads of sea and land routes,
Alexandroupolis connects Europe and Asia, East to the West.
This beautiful seaside city, whose trademark is a Lighthouse,
forms the center of a truly fascinating region full of nature,
culture and friendly people!

Ioannina
Situated in north-western Greece Ioannina often called
Yannena, is the capital and largest city of Epirus.
Why Ioannina?
Ioannina is a bustling little city, though slightly melancholic. The 20,000 university students here faithfully support the excellent eating and nightlife scene. Ioannina faces sheer mountains erupting behind Lake Pamvotis and you can see the best views are from Kastro, the old quarter interspersed with narrow lanes and Byzantine and Ottoman architecture.

Athens
Athens is the capital and largest city of Greece. Athens
dominates the Attica region and is one of the world's oldest
cities, with its recorded history spanning around 3,400 years.
Why Athens?
With most significant ancient sites linked in what has become Europe’s longest and arguably most stunning pedestrian promenade the city’s cultural and social life once again taking place around the ancient monuments and surrounding neighborhoods. Athens remains a city of contradictions, as frustrating as it is seductive. It is the oldest city in Europe and one of Europe’s safest and liveliest cities – a heady mix of grunge and grace with an undeniable urban soul.
