Top 10 Halloween Must Dos

There are so many places you need to go before or on Halloween. Whether it’s for fall fun or for hair-raising haunts, this is a list for all Autumn enthusiasts, from things around the world that are definitely lifetime goals to things that you can do right now!

1.Pumpkin patches. Nothing screams fall more than going to a pumpkin patch. Some good pumpkin patches near us include Warehimes Pumpkin Patch in Carlisle, Pumpkin Patch in Manheim, and Fields of Adventure in Aspers. 2.Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. Every year in New York’s Greenwich Village, there’s a spectacular Halloween parade that has been running since 1973. It’s definitely a must see! 3.A “Haunted” place. If you aren’t too scared, visiting a “haunted” place is great anytime, but especially on Halloween. Some of the most famous haunted places in the world include Poveglia Island in Venice Italy, The Queen Mary in California, Tower of London in England, The Catacombs in France, St. Augustine Lighthouse in Florida, For-bidden City in China, and Corvin Castle in Transylvania. There are also many places with rich histories near us! Some of the best ones are Devil’s Den in Gettysburg, Jennie Wade House in Gettysburg (seen on Ghost Adventures), Old Cumberland County Prison in Carlisle, and Frankenberger Tavern in Mechanicsburg. There’s also some great ghost tours that you can take, including many in Gettysburg (which is supposedly very haunted by many soldiers). 4.Corn mazes. Every fall, many farms transform their basic corn fields into impressive corn mazes. Some of the best in the country include Coolspring Corn Maze in Mercer PA, Swanks Farm Corn Maze in Hollister CA, Cornbelly’s Corn Maze in Lehi UT, and Cherry Crest Farm Amazing Maize Maze in Ronks, PA. (2018 Best Corn Mazes by USA Today) 5.Mexico. In Mexico, Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) is a multi-day holiday that focuses on gatherings of fami-ly and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and help support their spiritu-al journey. It is amazing to see the celebrations, especially in Mexico City. 6.Theme parks. Seeing all of the Halloween celebrations, decorations, and spooks at theme and amusement parks can be absolutely breathtaking (especially if they really scare you!). The places that do Halloween the best are Knotts Berry Farm, Disney World, Disneyland, Six Flags, Universal Studios Hollywood, Kennywood, and Busch Gar-dens. 7.Let It Shine Pumpkin Festival. The highlight of this event in New Hampshire is the incredible display of jack-o-lanterns, which in a previous year of the festival got the record of the highest number of jack-o-lanterns in one place, and they attempt to do this each year. For this reason alone, it’s definitely a must do! But, they have many other activities, including a children’s costume parade, trick-or-treat, pumpkin bowling, and more. 8.The West Hollywood Halloween Carnival. This carnival is one of the largest and most unique Halloween gather-ings and is an annual public event that takes place in (you guessed it!) Hollywood! Bring your costume A-game, be-cause everyone here goes all out. 9.The Hungry Ghost Festival. This festival is in Hong Kong. According to traditional Chinese belief, in the seventh month in the lunar calendar, restless spirits roam the earth. They try to please these spirits by “feeding” their an-cestors. In neighborhoods across the city, people take up space with sacrifices (food) for their ancestors. 10.Samhain. In Ireland and Scotland, there is the Samhain festival, which marks the end of the harvest. There are bonfires and feasting for the gathering, which is usually observed from October 31st to November 1st.

Thanks for reading this edition of ‘Round the World with Lizzie, and of course...happy Halloween!!! So, where to next? -Lizzie <3

Move Over, Disney! Time for Dismaland!

Hello everyone, Tyler here! Disneyland needed to take a nap, so Dismaland filled in for them!

What is Dismaland, you ask? Did you ever hear of the mysterious artist Banksy? He does really cool and

controversial art. He created something really big. One article stated, “Dismaland has all the hall-mark details of a traditional Banksy event from its initial shroud of secrecy to artistic themes of apocalypse, anti-consumerism, and pointed social critiques on celebrity culture, immigration, and law enforcement. However, there’s one ma-jor deviation: the bulk of the artwork packed into three main interior galleries was created by dozens of other artists.”

The staff are not nice; there are dead princesses in pumpkin, mouse-horse drawn carriages. There are hateful and swearing pieces of artwork. There is a huge pinwheel covered in plastic. There is a functional terrifying carousel. This is a derelict seaside swimming resort in Weston-super-Mare, UK. It is the complete opposite of Disneyland.

The most UnHappy Place on Earth is waiting for you!

The Halloween Dance Review

By Holland

The Halloween Dance was held on October 26, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. I went to the dance and had a blast! There were activities like dancing, open gym (for basketball), Zombie Says (held by us, the RAMPAG-

ES), and many more. I highly enjoyed the concession stand. But I only wish they would have said on the announce-

ments that you would of had to bring extra money for it. The Zombie Says was also very enjoyable. My friends and I loved doing the goofy Halloween themed gestures. I think it was a great idea having an open gym. Not only because I play in an AAU league, but also it allowed me to play against many others who don’t. I personally think that the dancing was the best. We danced in the cafeteria after all the tables and chairs were moved. My friends and I were doing the “hype” and “orange justice.” Which are both dances

from a very popular video game called Fortnight. Students even formed a dance circle! I think the DJ should have taken some suggestions though. I did not do the mummy wrapping challenge, but my good friend told

me that she loved it. Over all, the dance was great! I even got to make some new friends while participating in the activities.

There were just one or two things that, in my opinion, could be improved. I can’t wait until January for the next LMS dance!

A

Mix

Up

Of

Opinions

By: Ty Segarra

Greetings students of LMS. We have just had our mix it up lunch and in my time there I heard several opinions. That got me thinking what does everyone else think? If you have the time tell us how you feel on mix it up lunch or anything else you would like to talk about. If you don’t like it tell us why and give us an idea on a new activity that is productive. Put your name a piece of paper and take it to the front office where there will be a box. The top 5 answers will be put into our newest edition next month. Well that’s all I have for

today I hope to see reading the RAMpages next month. Thank you for your time and I’ll see you in the next edition of the RAMpages.
