Hellfire Club 18th CenturyPeople in positions of power, actively involved in the Satanic groups. It all sounds very far fetched. Who would suspect that the Mother of All Parliaments would harbour Satanists? In 1762, the British people were equally surprised to learn that their Prime Minister, The Marquis of Bute, along with The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sir Francis Dashwood and another Cabinet member, were all practising Satanists. All of these notables met together in the West Wycombe Caves in Buckinghamshire, UK and participated in huge orgies in the form of a Black Mass.An aspiring acolyte of that circle and close friend of Dashwood was a young American named Benjamin Franklin -The very same Benjamin Franklin who headed one of the most exclusive Masonic Lodges in aristocratic France and who later became one of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.Did Benjamin Franklin's interest in Satanism help shape and form the new state? It is certainly true that many of the other Founding Fathers of America had most unusual views on the Christian Religion.George Washington refused to kneel in church or take the communion.Thomas Jefferson stated that he did not see one redeeming feature in Orthodox Christianity.James Madison, speaking on Christianity said:" What has been it's fruits? More or less, in all places, pride and indolence in the clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both superstition, bigotry and persecution".Today, Americans swear allegiance to their flag with the words "Under God", and the words "In God We Trust" appear on US currency. But the original motto of the Founding Fathers was "E Pluribus Unum" or simply "Out of Many One".Curiously enough the American Constitution separates Church from State. It guarantees Freedom of Speech and the right to bear arms and perhaps the most interesting of all -Religious Freedom...for all. Could it be that this momentous historical document of human rights was directly influenced by Satanic thought and philosophy ?Where are we likely to find the answers to these questions - In history, politics or within theology itself ?
