HELINKS STS System Designer
This is our incredible 10 Minutes substation
It is a 10 KV double busbar configuration
It has 2 segments, with 10 bays
With HELINKS STS System Designer
We will create IEC61850
System Specification Description (SSD)
System Configuration Description (SCD)
Draw Single Line Diagram
Instantiate and mapIEDs
Define Automation Functions
We will execute
the
following
engineering
tasks
We start with an empty canvas.
Then we create
The incredible 10 min. SubstationThe 10 KV Voltage Level
The drawing palette
contains all elements to
draw the substation
structure
The Library drawer of
the palette gives us
access to the library of
predefined bay
templates
We select two incoming
bays for the double bus bar
configuration
The bays are instantiated
from the library
We use the palette to add
the 2 double bus bar
segments and move the
incoming bays apart.
Again we use the bay
template library to add
feeder, transformer and
coupler bays.
On the left segment we
have some free space.
There we want to put a bus
coupler bay.
We draw this bay manually
by using conducting
equipment from the palette.
Finally we use the electrical connection
tool to connect the bay disconnectors to
the bus bar.

Primary Function Specification
A Function is implemented by a
collection of Logical Nodes, related
to the primary equipment and
connected with each other.

We open our
project file with the
Function
Configurator
The Function
Configurator
shows us a tree
view with elements
where it is
possible to add
functions.
We select
Functions from the
Library....
....and place them
in the substation
Logical Nodes of
the function are
automatically
allocated
IED ENGINEERINGSCL Expert
Instantiate IED
Assign IED to bay
Map Logical Node
Select an ICD File ...and instantiate IEDs
Assign IEDs on every level of your
structure with the IED Mapping Wizard
The Mapping Icon
shows you a
succsessful mapping.
The
specified
function
points to an
instance of
the IED
Finally use SCL Expert to
configure the communication and
other settings of your IED
