Communicating to maintain relationships: relational maintenance, conflict management, romantic relationships, friendships, and workplace relations.

California State University Long Beach Instructor/GTA (2014 – 2016) COMM 130 Essentials of Public Speaking

In this course students are taught to compose and deliver informative, persuasive, and specialized speeches. Additionally, effective public speaking techniques are taught such as, overcoming public speaking fears, audience analysis, generating arguments, incorporating credible sources, and using verbal/nonverbal to enhance speaker style and presentation. COMM 110 Interpersonal Communication This workshop accompanies a bi-weekly lecture where students engage planned activities and exercises to develop interpersonal skills. Topics covered include: managing relationship challenges, interpersonal communication and the self, perceptions, and diversity, and relationships: friends, romantic partners, family, and in the workplace.

Graduate Teaching Assistant (2014-2016)

CSULB Hauth Center for Communication Skills Handled administrative tasks such as: answering phones, returning student calls, checking messages, and scheduling appointments. Operated equipment including audio, video, recording, and lighting to create DVDs of students practice presenting their speech assignments. Timed and advised students on their speech presentations based on their provided grading criteria sheets or rubrics. COMM 400 Nonverbal Communication Aided in designing, proctoring, and grading exams and course assignments like, touch behaviors paper, 7 in-class activity assignments, and 3 exams. Attended and assisted in administrative tasks during weekly class meetings of two hours and forty-five minutes. Handled administrative tasks for a class of 101 students, including: responding to student email inquiries, maintaining academic records, working actively with the learning management system to input grades on beachboard (blackboard) interface.

COMM 200 Gateway to Communication Studies Graded student assignments and 85 literature review-type papers (30 rhetorical and 55 social scientific). Attended 10 course meetings at one hour and fifteen minutes in length. Aided in administrative tasks for a class of 195 students, including: responding to student email inquiries, maintaining academic records, working actively with the learning management system to input grades on beachboard (blackboard) interface.
