Investing In Conserving LandProtecting our land resources: rich farmland, distinctive natural areas and properties of vital importance and benefit, is essential to our quality of life. Applying a comprehensive land preservation strategy, providing leadership in land stewardship and offering conservation tools for communities will focus and facilitate our efforts.

To date, we’ve permanently protected over 5,000 acres; a combination of prime farmland, natural areas and urban parks, all of which benefit current and future generations.

HeartLands Conservancy is a member of the Land Trust Alliance. We are the region’s oldest and largest environmental nonprofit.

Investing In Building Greener CommunitiesEnvironmentally healthy communities are highly desirable from an economic, growth and well-being perspective. To achieve this goal, we provide leadership in community planning and in the creation and implementation of key initiatives.

We assist communities address complex development issues by offering education and training; guidance on land use planning and ordinances; natural resource mapping; grant development; and implementation.
