The Ten Commandments Exodus 20:1-17

And God spoke all these words, saying, I am the LORD your God, which has brought you out of

the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You will have no other gods before me.

You will not make yourself any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the

earth: You will not bow down yourself to them, or serve

them: for I the LORD your God am a jealous God, visit-ing the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And showing mercy to thousands of them that love

me, and keep my commandments. You will not take the name of the LORD your God in

vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you will labor, and do all your work:

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD your God: in it you will not do any work, you, or thy son, or

your daughter, your manservant, or your maidservant, or your cattle, or your stranger that is within your

gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the

sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hal-

lowed it. Honor your father and your mother: that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God

giveth thee. You will not murder.

You will not commit adultery. You will not steal.

You will not bear false witness against your neighbor. You will not covet your neighbor's house, you will not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is

your neighbor's.

For God sent not his

Son into the world to

condemn the world;

but that the world

through him might be

saved.

John 3:17

John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, That you love one

another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one to another.

Working together to spread the gospel of Jesus, the Christ

TO THE GLORY OF GOD By Wendell Yeary

There are many disagreements among the people call-ing themselves Christian concerning the nature of Jesus when He was on earth. Some people say that He was God and man, or God in the form of man, but not man. Others will say that the Bible says He was all man, completely flesh and blood. What does the Word of God say? Tied to all of this is the way we are to worship God the Father and the son Jesus the Christ. This includes the songs we sing in church services or the ending to our prayers. Let’s look at these ideas with what we can glean from God’s Word. Turn in your Bible to Philippians 2:5-11, “Have this atti-tude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus who, alt-hough He existed in the form of God did not regard equali-ty with God a thing to be grasped but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond servant, and being made in the

likeness of man. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name. So that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God, the Father.” In these scriptures we can plainly see that Christ gave up His divine nature and became a human baby. Some people say He only took the form of man not really be-coming man, but this is proven untrue for the fact that He died. Verse 8 tells us He humbled Himself and suffered death on the cross. If He had been God, or only looking like a man He could not have died. Mankind cannot kill God. But, let’s turn to I John 4:2 “By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God.” (Continued on Page 4)

3

Page 4: Akccogm.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/2019-MARCH.pdfheart failure, high blood pressure and she is anemic. Update: She is going home to continue treatments. Neal arpenter: She is 90

(To The Glory of God, Continued from Page 3.) This verse plainly tells us that Jesus came in the flesh and the Spirit of God the Father is the witness. When it comes to prayer, we are to ask not in the Fa-ther’s name, or the name of anyone except Jesus the Christ. John 14:14 says “If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” And John 15:16 “so that whatever you ask of the Father in my name He may give to you.” There are some in the Christian community that say if you don’t say the correct name of God you can’t be saved. Yet, it’s the name of Jesus that gets prayer answered. In Acts 4:12 “and there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” So again, the Bible says something that is different than man says. I have known for years that some people in the Church of God believe that only songs speaking of the Father, should be sung. Songs dealing with Christ such as “Victory In Jesus,” or “All Hail The Power,” and many, many others should not be sung because they elevate Jesus instead of the Father. Let’s go back to Philippians 2. These verses tell us a very important thing. One is that God the Father exalted Christ, verse 9, because He obeyed fully. Because Christ didn’t ever see His divine nature as something that He couldn’t give up, if it meant not obeying God the Father. Paul tells us that every knee will bow, every tongue will confess that it’s Jesus who is Lord. But it’s very im-portant for us to understand verse 11 which says to the glory of God the Father. We worship and exalt God, the Father when we acknowledge Jesus as Lord, and when we sing songs of praise to Jesus, we exalt Him. We give glory to God the Father and as any Father, God too is proud of His Son. He wants us to lift up the name of Christ, He wants us to give credit for healing to that name, Jesus, the Christ. We must learn it’s not one or the other, but both we worship for they are one in Spirit, God the Father and Je-sus, our Savior, His son. The Father is the one who sent Christ, He gave His only begotten Son, John 3:16 says. Jesus obeyed 100%. In fact, that’s what Paul says God wants of us as well. In verse 5 of Philippians 2 it says: “Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus.” So, for you and me to be the children of God and

to bring Him glory, we too must be obedient just as Christ was and we too will bring glory to God the Father. END

Nigeria Churches of God

The churches in Nigeria continue to grow as more

and more people are baptized and added to the fami-

ly of God. They still have need of a roof for one of

their structures. Pastor Solomon and Pastor Ezekiel

are continually spreading the gospel in Nigeria. They

are still baptizing the people who have turned their

lives over to the Lord and have chosen to serve Him

with their lives.

Please continue to pray for God’s guidance and

protection for all of our brethren in Nigeria as they

continue to work hard. They have many orphans that

they work to support also.

We continue to send CD/DVD sermons, printed

teachings and newsletters to them. Because of the

postage increases and other expenses, we have been

unable to send any help for bibles or other needs that

they have. We would like to increase our support to

them, but we don’t have the funds to do so. Please

pray that God will touch the hearts of more people to

help support the work their and in the other coun-

tries.

They give their thanks for all of the thoughts and

prayers of all the brethren here in the U.S.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES CHURCH OFGOD, PHILIPPINES

LOCAL MINISTER & HOST NESTOR & EDITH JANIER MAILING ADDRESS: P.O. BOX 0476 CAGYAN DE ORO CITY 9000 PHILIPPINES

7

In his letter dated Janu-ary 21st, Pastor Nestor wrote, “Our love and greetings to all of you our beloved brothers and sis-ters in the Lord there. Hope all is well with you and the Lord bless and keep you all safe.”

“As we come to the end of another year and enter into the unknown, there is great consolation that God, the Father is in con-trol. Prophecy is being fulfilled at an alarming speed and the Lord is com-ing very soon.”

“The gospel and mis-sion works here are fine and real good. The Lord continues to bless the works here and open doors for the gospel. Our churches continue to grow and the brethren stand strong in the Lord and stay faithful. The bible school is doing good and the stu-dents are so excited for the graduation on April

7th.” (Student photos top 2 and middle left photos.) Pastor Nestor had to cancel their trip to visit the church in Cebu City in the first part of February due to lack of funds. They have rescheduled for April 4th-9th to celebrate the thanks-giving anniversary and graduation. (Bottom 2 photos are during a previous Praise and worship in Cebu City church.)

The Cebu City churches are still in need of a vehicle and they still need assistance in other areas, so if you feel led to help, that would be great. They are needing to increase the size of the church building in the area so they can accom-modate all of the brethren and visitors. A Mindanao is still under martial law and there are many terrorist attacks just in the first month of 2019. There is an election coming soon in Mindanao, so the churches need our prayers for God’s guidance and protection during these troubled times.

ARMOR: WHOSE ARMOR? By Bert Devin

“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:13 Ephesians 3:13 is the “go to” scripture about ar-mor. The word “armor” appears 30 times in NKJV, 25 in the Old and 5 in the New Testament. The first encounter with the “wiles of the devil”, mankind was totally unprepared, un-armed and to-tally without armor. Adam and Eve were newly cre-ated, totally without experience. They, like most of blinded mankind, were naked and defenseless before the well-armed, armored enemy. A Shepherd boy met such an enemy. 1 Samuel 17:4-7 gives a list of the enemy of God, Goliath from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span. That means Goliath was at least 3 to 3 ½ feet taller than the average Israelite, of that day. King Saul was a head above most Israelites. King Saul was a strong, fully armed man. But King Saul trusted in his own strength and physical armor, rather than God’s ar-mor. Luke 11:21-22 “When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he comes upon him and over-comes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoil.” King Saul trusted his own strength, and his armor, rather than God. He gave his armor to David. David tried it on and pronounced it “Untested.” 1 Samuel 17:38-39 (KJV) “And Saul armed David with his ar-mour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.” After trying on the king’s armor, David chose to believe God would fight His enemies. The Philistines were God’s enemies, not David’s or Israel’s enemy. God had long ago promised to fight Israel’s battles and drive out the enemy for them as they needed the room, after the initial conquering of the land, un-der Joshua. In the U.S.A. today, we print the slogan, “IN GOD WE TRUST” on our money, then spend bil-lions of dollars on the king’s armor, in which we trust, just like King Saul.

1 Samuel 17: 45-47 is our instruction manual for battle against the “wiles of the devil.” If the tempta-tion does not flee from you, but, just as the giant Go-liath, wants to do battle, with you, do as David did. He charged forward against the problem, saying, “But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.” David used language that fit the situation, he faced. Today, the Bride of Christ is called to fight spiritual battles, against Satan and against our own human na-ture, which are battles against the lusts and desires of our own flesh. Today, we are the “armies of Israel.” Only the name of the LORD of hosts will defeat our enemies. Onward, Christian soldiers, going forward in the name of the LORD OF hosts of the God of the ar-mies. So, David swung his sling. His stone struck the gi-ant. The giant fell. David already knew what he had to do. He said, “This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you.” 1 Samuel 17:46. God made certain the stone hit the mark and Goliath went down. David did not hesitate. He had to slay the giant. We are not to give our Goliath’s a second chance to kill us. Our victory is not our own. It belongs to God. 1 Samuel 47, “And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saves not with the sword and spear, for the battle is the LORD’S and He will give you (Philistines) into our hands.” And in prophecy of the last days God says in Ezeki-el 39:7, “So I will make My name known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let them pollute My holy name any more: and the heathen then shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One of Israel.” Today, we are the remnant of Israel. We were all once “heathens.” We are an assembly of former hea-then. God should be given the praise and glory for our victories so other former heathen will know that the LORD, the Holy One of Israel still fights our battles! We are close to the end of 6,000 years of human history. The time of darkness is almost up. We are close to the dawn of a new day. “The night (Satan’s time) is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of dark-ness, and let us put on the armor of light.” Romans 13:12. END

The Spring Holy Days will be upon us sooner than we think. Start making plans to

attend somewhere near your area. We plan to have the Passover service, Night to be

much remembered and the First Day of Unleavened Bread in Clinton, Mo. Last Day of

Unleavened Bread location is still open.

Our plans are to celebrate the Feast of Firstfruits on Pentecost in Harrisonville, Mo.

We will have more details in next month’s newsletter after we get the plans set.

We are still working on plans for the Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement.

We plan on attending the Feast of Tabernacles in Branson, Mo again this year.

We are still planning on a church service in the park for sometime this Spring.

All of this is of course if the Lord is willing for us to do so.

Everyone is always welcome to join us in our home for services or at any of our

scheduled services at any other location.
