Hearst Park and Pool Parks and Recreation 3950 37 th Street, NW Ward 3 Project Status: Design January 2017 - Projected Date for Builder Solicitation (Park Space) and December 2019 (Pool Space) DPR recently hired an architecture firm to begin the design process for the Hearst Park and Pool project. The architect will be working with both DPR and the Hearst Community to obtain feedback on the proposed improvements. Initial community requests include: addition of an outdoor pool to the site, improvement of the existing field, improvement of the tennis courts, erosion control and natural walkway improvements. The existing site is comprised of 6.5 acres and currently contains a multi- purpose athletic field, three (3) tennis courts, sidewalks and many mature trees. The field suffers from overuse and erosion problems. The adjacent tennis courts are in disrepair along with the sidewalks that join the space. The existing trees are in need of evaluation and care. Funding has also been allocated towards the construction on an outdoor pool and pool house within the park space, with the specific location to be determined. Design is expected to continue through 2016 with an anticipated solicitation for construction services in January 2017 for the park space. Funding has been allocated for the pool and pool house construction in Fiscal Year 2019, so the anticipated date of solicitation for pool and pool house construction services is December 2019. Questions may be directed to Brent Sisco at [email protected] or at 202-615-9824.
