exploreDrawing from its collection of nearly 40,000 objects, the Heard Museum showcases 10 ongoing and changing exhibit galleries. Free guided tours led by expert docents are offered at least three times daily at noon, 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. exhibitions change frequently; check with your concierge, visit heard.org or call 602.252.8848 for a list of current exhibitions.

n Journey from ancient times to today and across five regions in the signature exhibit HOME: Native People in the Southwest, featuring more than 2,000 treasures from the museum’s collection.

n Marvel at more than 500 Hopi katsina dolls from the collections of sen. Barry Goldwater and the Fred Harvey Company.

n step inside a Navajo hogan, peek into a pueblo horno (bread oven) and try your hand at grinding corn.

n Discover america’s untold story of indian boarding schools, where generations of indian children were educated after being forcibly removed from their homes by the u.s. government.

n enjoy the work of Chiricahua apache artist allan Houser, whose sculpture can be found throughout the grounds and in the Berlin Gallery.

n Delight in the many multimedia elements — documentary-quality films, artist interviews and sound stations — that provide a more personal understanding of Native cultures.

tHe CaFé at tHe HearD MuseuMopen daily, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.Southwest-inspired cuisine takes center stage at this courtyard café featuring fresh salads, sandwiches, soups and snacks. Dine amidst the majestic arches and desert plants of the museum’s shady entry courtyard, a charming spot for relaxing with friends and family over a meal, snack, coffee or wine. Inside dining also available.
