Laydex was established nearly 20 years ago to meet the challenging requirements of supplying quality construction products and systems in a rapidly changing market place. Our goal was then and still is to be a major provider of a wide range of construction materials promoted through the specifier, contractors, builders merchants and end-user.

Laydex has grown out of all recognition from that start up period. As a company we have expanded to the extent that we now encompass four individual operating divisions of Roofing, Flooring, Building Products and Sports Surfaces. We have become one of the dominant players in the supply area of the construction industry in Ireland, with our products used in most major house building, education, healthcare, commercial and industrial projects on the island.

We have continued to expand our product portfolio, seeking out new sales opportunities while maintaining long and profitable relationships with our existing customers and manufacturers.

Our team, having a wealth of construction knowledge, technical skills, and very close working partnerships with our international manufacturers, have successfully contributed to our solid growth to date.

Our customers’ needs are at the forefront of the Laydex philosophy, so those who do business with us find the experience friendly and rewarding. Laydex Flooring Division is unique in that it supplies the most comprehensive range of subfloor preparation, floor coverings and accessory materials available from any one provider.

When the architect, client or contractor is deciding upon a suitable floor covering they must also consider the quality and compatibility of the materials used beneath that wearing surface. Wet, contaminated and uneven surfaces must be prepared to ensure proper bonding and longevity of the selected material. When the entire build-up can be provided from one source, then all concerned can receive comfort and assurance that the whole project will perform to the standard required.

Laydex can supply a full range of floor preparation products including, surface damp proof membranes, primers, screeds and adhesives to suit almost any substrate.

Our range of primers have very low emissions, can be solvent and ammonia free and are suitable for pre-treatment of absorbent, non-absorbent and smooth substrates. Our Self Levelling Smoothing compounds can be laid on new and old floors and offer high Newton strength.

Healthcare facilities such as hospitals, doctor’s surgeries, residential care units and veterinary practices are at constant threat from the spread of infection. EPOXY FLOOR COATING

Laydex supply high performance, solvent free and ultra chemical resistant epoxy resin floor coatings. They may be used as a hard wearing coloured floor coating in environments such as hospitals, laboratories, factories, warehouses, plant and storerooms where high resistance against chemical attack is required.

The system can incorporate graded aggregate between coats to provide a slip-resistant profile, or as a line marking product in areas requiring demarcation. Available to order in various colours.

ENTRANCE MATTING

An effective barrier matting system, when correctly specified, will help to minimise the risk of slip accidents caused by wet flooring, reduce maintenance costs and improve the appearance of internal floor coverings by significantly reducing the amount of dirt and moisture tracked into a building.

Our range of barrier matting cannot only be used at a building’s entrance and access points but also in other areas that are subject to increased risk of soiling and heavy wear. In many cases the optimum performance is achieved by combining different types of barrier matting.

In line with The Building Regulations and British Standards, barrier matting is required to help provide safe access for all users of buildings, including wheelchair users, in line with the Equality Act 2010.

CARPET AND CARPET TILES

Laydex can offer a wide range of various qualities and colours in carpets and carpet tiles.

The healthcare industry is challenged by the presence of micro-organisms and the negative effects they cause. In Europe, more than twice as many people die as a result of hospital acquired infection each year than are killed in road traffic accidents.

The World Health Organisation states that textiles act as a microbial harbour and offer ideal conditions for the proliferation of superbugs. Laydex’s medical carpet ranges have a molecule in them which works by permanently linking a non-migrating antimicrobial coating on to textiles. Microorganisms are attracted to the surface of the textile, where once in contact with the treatment their cell membranes are punctured, as if by a sword. The piercing mechanism both kills and prevents re-growth of the micro-organism, is clinically proven to be perfectly safe in contact with human skin and releases no pollutants into the environment.

RUBBER FLOORING

Rubber flooring is one of the world’s most popular floor coverings for use in a wide variety of locations.

Each product in Laydex’s rubber flooring range is environmentally friendly, giving high performance, slip resistance, fire resistance and is incredibly economical both to install and maintain. 3M hygienic wall coatings are high performance water based polyurethane systems designed to provide a high quality, hygienic coating for all internal surfaces. They provide a completely seamless finish which is quick and easy to clean and give a tough durable finish with optimum levels of UV resistance and do not promote bacterial growth. Can be applied to plasterboard, tiles and existing paint. Easy to apply using either a roller, brush or spray applicator. They provide an MRSA resistant finish, meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact, and are also fire rated. Excellent Graffiti, Chemical and Abrasion resistance. WALL CLADDING

Today’s hygiene regulations demand that surfaces must be smooth and easy to clean, and that walls are durable, impervious and impact resistant. The traditional approach has been to work with ceramic tiles, which can be problematic in addressing modern hygiene and durability issues.

In busy locations, knocks to walls happen regularly. One solution is to use hygienic sheet PVC wall cladding. Tests show that Altro Whiterock when installed properly is 100% watertight, unlike tiled surfaces.

The advent of PVC sheet wall cladding provides a decorative and practical alternative to ceramic tiles. Being impervious, the product can be used practically anywhere. Showers and kitchens in particular benefit from the watertight, seamless, wipe clean surface that the system provides. Unlike a tiled surface there is no grout involved, so dirt and bacteria have nowhere to hide. Water can’t seep through to the substrate behind, a problem that can cause major structural damage to any building.

It makes good business sense for your organisation to invest in a long-term solution with low maintenance, less cleaning and fewer repairs which is also aesthetically pleasing.
