responses we have received and must admit that we had no idea how much interest this project would generate

among our readers. Truly, as the Lord’s servant said,

the health message is the right arm of the

gospel.We have had

more people call and show interest in

the health work than in any other single thing

we have done. We are actually ashamed that it has

taken us this long to recognize what work God would have us do here in Illinois. We had a very successful health program in Washington at L.A.M.I. and now we are happy to report that we have a program available here in Galesburg, Illinois.

Our health program here at Hope International is based solely on the teachings of the word of God and the Spirit of Prophecy. We have striven to create a health program that incorporates all eight laws of health as promoted by Sister White with the addition of the natural herbal remedies that she said God had given us for our health.

“God has caused to grow out of the ground herbs for the use of man and if we understand the nature of these roots and herbs, and make a right use of them, there would not be a necessity of running for the doctor so frequently, and people would be in much better health than they are today.” MM 230-231

“There are simple herbs and roots that every family may use for themselves, and need not call in a physician any sooner than they would call a lawyer.” 2SM 279

“ T h e L o r d has given some simple herbs of the field that at times are benefi-cial; and if every family were edu-cated in how to use these herbs in case of sickness, much suffering

Page 3: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

might be prevented, and no doctor need be called. These old-fashioned, simple herbs, used intelligently, would have recovered many sick, who have died under drug medication.” Letter 82, 1897 (written Feb. 10, 1897)

“This is God’s method. The herbs that grow for the benefit of man, and the little handful of herbs kept and steeped and used for sudden ailments, have served tenfold, yes, one hundred fold better purposes, than all the drugs hidden under mysterious names and dealt out to the sick. {PH144 12.2}

“The true method for healing the sick is to tell them of the herbs that grow for the benefit of man.” SpM 137

Tony Morais has spent a great portion of his life striving to follow the counsel of the Lord in regard to all the natural remedies and especially the “healing herbs.” He has helped people for many years through his experience with the eight natural laws and the African, German, and European herbs that he has become very familiar with. In addition, he has ex-tensive theoretical and practical education in the application of different types of clays and charcoals used in the healing process.

But, more importantly, Tony has endeavored to humble himself before the Lord with a teachable spirit. Those who know him will attest to that truth. Before dealing with anybody, he kneels before God to seek wisdom and help from on high, and therein lies the success of anyone trying to help others.

At Hope for Health, the focus is on what the Lord can do through His will-ing servants. We teach new lifestyles, new diets, new theories of education and new concepts of health. We also teach unique truths about the real causes

and sources of disease, pain and suffering. Satan is trying to destroy us; mind, body and soul. Our efforts are focused on reversing, through the Lord’s power, the damage and evil done by the wicked one and ourselves to our bodies. Finally, we want to use the wisdom and common sense God has given us through the inspired writings, to gain the

victory over the enemy.Let us not be deceived in this point! This is a war,

and Satan is striving with all his power to destroy us. He will use whatever means he can to try and win the battle, and destroying our health is one of his supreme tactics. If he can afflict us, physically, maybe he can also wear us down spiritually and finally achieve his diabolical goal: To make us lose heaven!

We have a beautiful Western Cedar sauna that has been installed to facilitate treatment of disease through a systematic removal of impurities from the system

using a clean, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing process. The sauna has an AM/FM CD player to en-able the health guest to listen to edifying material of their choice.

Ou r bra nd new whirlpool area fea-tures heated water and ozone filtration along with several multi-po-sitional jets to gently massage your body and increase the cir-culation of your system to improve the body’s resilience to infectious diseases and muscular pain. The whirlpool room also features aroma-

therapy, music therapy essential oil therapy and a pleasant atmosphere to literally “wash away” your pains and discomforts.

We also have a special “clay bath” therapy room with two different size claw-foot tubs, which were donated (for which we are very appreciative), and a beautifully tiled hydrotherapy shower both for hydrotherapy and for cleans-ing after the clay bath treatments. The clay bath treatments are reputed to be especially good for extremely sick people. Clay works as a magnet for toxins, poisons and heavy metals. Tony has had excellent results with different types of clays and we have already had a guest here that had it applied just to her arms and legs, with amazing results.

Then we have a room dedicated solely to massage therapy. We have a massage table, a massage chair and an electronic back, calf and foot massage therapy chair as well. This room is set up with aromatherapy, music therapy, and essential oil therapy. From this room, the guest has an open view of the beautiful outdoors and its relaxing, calming environment.

Our massage therapy assistants use only the finest, organic, health promot-ing massage oils available on the market. Men do the massages for the men and women massage women only.

We have a complete exercise room out-fitted to enable our guests to achieve maxi-mum strength and fitness levels while here,

and to regain the vitality that the Lord blessed them with before sickness fastened it-self upon them. These pieces of equipment were another huge blessing to us here at

Page 5: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

Hope International. Many of them were donated to us, resulting in a beneficial selection of assorted equipment much broader and more complete than what we would have been able to acquire without the gifts.

Much of our exercise program is typically conducted out doors in the open air, but early evenings and inclement weather

characteristic of the winter season will make the provision of this exercise room a great

boon to our guests. Large windows, form-ing an entire wall, provide a wonderful view of natural woodlands; and the supply of abundant fresh air, occasion-ally supplemented by fans, make the room appropriately cool for workouts. In addition, there is a classroom area

for our health classes complete with blackboard, tables, and chairs on a

beautifully carpeted floor in an attractive area garnished with indoor plants, greenery

and flowers. Many of you may remember the pictures of the

room that was being remodeled and renovated into a guest lounge area. We were working on it during our last camp meeting. It is now complete, and we were able to furnish it for next to nothing. The Lord led us to a huge Sunday church yard sale, where

we were able to purchase all the furnishings for pennies on the dollar. Again, we must pause to praise

the Lord in the highest, for He reigns supreme! It is only because of His goodness and mercy that we have been able to accomplish so much. He provides the power, the strength, the ability and the people to do these marvelous works.

We are now able to take reservations for guests. If you or a friend or loved one are in need of health regeneration and education, please don’t hesitate to give us a call. Depending on the nature and condition of your needs, your health regimen could take between a long weekend and several weeks.

Tony Morais, our naturopathic doctor, Heather Olson, our nurse and the entire staff of Hope for Health are here and prepared to serve you in any capacity that will help you reclaim your health.

Our dependence is not on our expertise, but on the God we serve. He is a mighty God and the Healer of the nations. It is from Him that we draw our strengths and abilities and it is to Him that we look for the proper methods of healing. With unwavering trust in God’s providence and His ability to bless and answer fervent prayers as we employ these heaven ordained

methods of healing, we are confident that this health retreat might be all that He would have it be.

In addition to all the emphasis on education and reversal of diseases of the physi-cal body, Hope for Health offers nightly worship services for its clients. There is also a mid-week service in the chapel and Sab-bath services held every Sabbath.

It is like com-ing to regain your health and having the additional bless-ings of camp meeting, all at the same time. We have two Seventh-day Adventist pastors on staff at Hope International. We are committed not only to the physical wellness of our guests, but the mental and spiritual as well.

If you feel you could benefit from a rejuvenat-ing, invigorating, restoration to health and hap-piness, please give Tony a call at 309-289-4673, or email him at [email protected].

We would like to add here that there are times when a medical doctor is required, and that God has given gifts for such purposes. There are faithful, caring, Christian doctors. Our focus is not to disparage the medical pro-fession, but to offer an alternative, specifically, an “inspired” alternative.

To make the point about the faithful doctors, we offer this true story:

The Cost of a MiracleA little girl went to her bedroom and pulled a glass jelly jar from its hid-

ing place in the closet. She poured the change out on the floor and counted it carefully. Three times, even. The total had to be exactly perfect. No chance here for mistakes. Carefully placing the coins back in the jar and twisting on the cap, she slipped out the back door and made her way 6 blocks to Rexall’s Drug Store with the big red Indian Chief sign above the door.

Page 8: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some attention but he was too busy at this moment. Tess twisted her feet to make a scuffing noise. Nothing. She cleared her throat with the most disgusting sound she could muster. No good. Finally she took a quarter from her jar and banged it on the glass counter. That did it!

“And what do you want?” the pharmacist asked in an annoyed tone of voice. I’m talking to my brother from Chicago whom I haven’t seen in ages,” he said without waiting for a reply to his question. “Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered back in the same annoyed tone. “He’s really, really sick... and I want to buy a miracle.”

“ I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist. “ His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his head and my Daddy says only a miracle can save him now. So how much does a miracle cost?”

“We don’t sell miracles here, little girl. I’m sorry but I can’t help you,” the pharmacist said, softening a little. “Listen, I have the money to pay for it. If it isn’t enough, I will get the rest. Just tell me how much it costs.”

The pharmacist’s brother was a well-dressed man. He stooped down and asked the little girl, “What kind of a miracle does your brother need?” “I don’t know,” Tess replied with her eyes welling up. I just know he’s really sick and Mommy says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want to use my money.”

“How much do you have?” asked the man from Chicago. “One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered barely audibly. “And it’s all the money I have, but I can get some more if I need to.”

“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents is the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.” He took her money in one hand

CAMP MEETING

A Glass of MilkOne day, a poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his

way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided he would ask for a meal at the next house. However,

he lost his nerve when a lovely young woman opened the door.Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked

hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, How much do I owe you?” You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.” He said ... “Then I

Page 10: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

thank you from my heart.”As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt stronger physically, but

his faith in God and man was strong also. He had been ready to give up and quit.

Many years later that same young woman became critically ill. The local doctors were baffled. They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease. Dr. How-

ard Kelly was called in for consultation. When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.

Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room. Dressed in his doctor’s gown he went

in to see her. He recognized her at once. He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her

life. From that day he gave special attention to her case. After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. Kelly requested the

business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room. She feared to open it, for she was sure

it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill.

She read these words ...

“Paid in full with one glass of milk”(Signed) Dr. Howard Kelly

Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: “Thank You, God, that Your love has spread broad through human hearts and hands.”

Ecclesiastes 11:1 -- “Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days.”

My Brother KevinI envy Kevin. My brother Kevin thinks God lives under

his bed. At least that’s what I heard him say one night. He was praying out loud in his dark bedroom, and I stopped outside his closed door to listen.

“Are you there, God?” he said. “Where are you? Oh, I see. Under the bed.” I giggled softly and tiptoed off to my own room. Kevin’s unique perspectives are often a source

10

Page 11: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

of amusement. But that night something else lingered long after the humor. I realized for the first time the very different world Kevin lives in.

He was born 30 years ago, mentally disabled as a result of difficulties during labor. Apart from his size (he’s 6-foot-2), there are few ways in which he is an adult. He reasons and communicates with the capabilities of a 7-year-old, and he always will. He will probably always believe that God lives under his bed, that Santa Claus is the one who fills the space under our tree every Christmas and that airplanes stay up in the sky because angels carry them.

I remember wondering if Kevin realizes he is different. Is he ever dissatisfied with his monotonous life? Up before dawn each day, off to work at a workshop for the disabled, home to walk our cocker spaniel, return to eat his favorite macaroni-and-cheese for dinner, and later to bed.

The only variation in the entire scheme is laundry, when he hovers excitedly over the washing machine like a mother

with her newborn child. He does not seem dissatisfied. He lopes out to the bus every morning at 7:05, eager for a day of simple work. He wrings his hands excitedly while the water boils on the stove before dinner, and he

stays up late twice a week to gather our dirty laundry for his next day’s laundry

chores. And Sundays-oh, the bliss of Sundays!

That’s the day my Dad takes Kevin to the airport to have a soft drink, watch the planes land, and speculate loudly on the destination of each passenger inside. “That one’s goin’ to Chi-car-go!” Kevin shouts as he claps his hands. His anticipation is so great he can hardly sleep on Saturday nights. And so goes his world of daily rituals and weekend field trips.

He doesn’t know what it means to be discontent. His life is simple. He will never know the entanglements of wealth or power, and he does not care what brand of clothing he wears or what kind of food he eats. His needs have always been met, and he never worries that one day they may not be. His hands are diligent. Kevin is never so happy as when he is working. When he unloads the dishwasher or vacuums the carpet, his heart is completely in it. He does not shrink from a job when it is begun, and he does not leave a job until it is finished. But when his tasks are done, Kevin knows how to relax.

He is not obsessed with his work or the work of others. His heart is pure. He still believes everyone tells the truth, promises must be kept, and when you are wrong, you apologize instead of arguing. Free from pride and unconcerned with appearances, Kevin is not afraid to cry when he is hurt, angry or sorry.

He is always transparent, always sincere. And he trusts God. Not confined by intellectual reasoning, when he comes to Christ, he comes as a child. Kevin seems to know God - to really be friends with Him in a way that is difficult for an “educated” person to grasp. God seems like his closest companion.

11

Page 12: Health Retreat - hopeint.webs.com 2005/NEWS Nov Dec 2005.pdf · PO Box 220, Knoxville, Illinois 61448 309.343.1844 309.343.3721 fax ofÞce@hopeint.org November - December 2005 Hope

In my moments of doubt and frustrations with my Christianity, I envy the security Kevin has in his simple faith. It is then that I am most willing to admit that he has some divine knowledge that rises above my mortal questions. It is then I realize that perhaps he is not the one with the handicap, I am. My obligations, my fear, my pride, my circumstances they all become disabilities when I do not trust them to God’s care.

Who knows if Kevin comprehends things I can never learn? After all, he has spent his whole life in that kind of innocence, praying after dark and soaking up the goodness and love of God. And one day, when the mysteries of heaven are opened, and we are all amazed at how close God really is to our hearts, I’ll realize that God heard the simple prayers of a boy who believed that God lived under his bed.

Kevin won’t be surprised at all!

and with the other hand he grasped her mitten and said “Take me to where you live. I want to see your brother and meet your parents. Let’s see if I have the miracle you need.”

That well dressed man was Dr. Carlton Arm-strong, a surgeon, specializing in neuro-surgery. The operation was completed free of charge and it wasn’t long before Andrew was home again and doing well. Mom and Dad were happily talking about the chain of events that had led them to this place.

That surgery,” her Mom whispered, was a real miracle. I wonder how much it would have cost?” Tess smiled. She knew exactly how much a miracle cost...one dollar and eleven cents .... plus the faith of a little child, and an empathetic physician.

Toxi-Loges SyrupHerbal Immune modulator with excellent tolerabilitySpecially prepared for children

The dry air destroys the first barriers of the body’s immune system. Through the close social contacts in kindergartens and schools, the germs easily find a host. They are not transmitted through the air but through the hands. Toys, door handles and furniture act as intermediaries.

Toxi-loges syrup is recommended for the prevention and treatment of infections in the respiratory tract (flu, bronchitis, sinusitis, asthma) and urinary tract.

It helps to inhance the immune system. Can be taken by children (1-4 years 5 ml 2-3 times daily, 4-12 years 10 ml 2-3 times daily, above 12 years 15 ml twice a day). This syrup is alcohol and sugar free. The pleasant taste ensures that children also like taking it.

Composition: 100 g of the syrup contains 1.076 g dried pressed juice of fresh blooming purple Echinacea.

Price: $20.94
