The Regional Health Administration of Alentejo is a
decentralized service of the Ministry of Health,
whose scope of action is the Alentejo region and
aims to coordinate and optimize the available
resources to provide the necessary healthcare to its
community
• Alentejo is characterized by being the largest region in Portugal and
at the same time the region with the lowest population density
• Area: 27,330 km²
• Population: 501.747hab

The Executive Board of the WHO has awarded a prize of the Foundation in the United Arab Emirates for the Health - 2010, to the ARS Alentejo
• Mobile units providing healthcare to the people who live far away from health centers and have problems with mobility
Community funds have a very important role in Alentejo:
• fighting against inequalities in health• promoting access to quality healthcare• promoting social cohesion
