Vanderbilt University is committed to building its health economics and health policy programs through new faculty hires and innovative univer- sity-wide initiatives. Multiple health economists work in the Department of Economics, which currently offers a PhD field in health economics. The newly established Department of Health Policy in the School of Medicine, which offers an MPH degree, is aggressively recruiting faculty in order to expand its research portfolio and estab- lish a PhD program in health policy. Together, the Departments of Economics and Health Policy offer a well-regarded Health Economics and Policy seminar series. The Vanderbilt Law School offers a Law and Economics JD–PhD program with a focus on health law and policy. The Owen Graduate School of Management, a national leader in the field of health care management, is currently recruiting a senior faculty member to fill an endowed chair in health care. At the uni- versity-wide level, Vanderbilt’s strategic plan has identified health care solutions as one of four key growth areas and an institutional priority. These activities are taking place in a city that is one of the nation’s centers for health care inno- vation: Nashville and the region around it are home to more than 280 health care companies, offering hospital services, insurance products, wellness programs, claims processing, and more. We invite you to find out more about these and other exciting developments in health economics and health policy at Vanderbilt by talking with one of our many faculty and graduate students who will be at the conference!
