Special environmental and working conditions in mining
A respiratory device used in mining may be subjected to:
• rough usage and vibrations• quick temperature changes • quick pressure changes• corrosive substances• low or high humidity• splashes of water • high dust concentrations• high breathing rates because of heavy work• maybe an explosive atmosphere
Furthermore the situation is often you have restricted escape ways and long distances to go.

The suitcase with the air supply can be transported by the wearer. He will be
supplied with breathable air via the medium pressure hose.
The combination of the compressed airline apparatus with a self contained breathing apparatus allows to leave
the vehicle without the suitcase

New approach for standardising RPD on ISO level
• human factors determine requirements• demands of wearers in their working environments• performance requirements, no design description • Standards for complete devices
• exception: Filtering device with standard connection
