“Every two days we create as much information as we did from the dawn of civilization up until 2003. That’s something like five exabytes of data.”
-- Eric Schmidt, CEO Google
“There are three times as many smartphones being activated every minute as babies being born.”
--Hans Vestberg, CEO Ericsson
TEXT MESSAGING:Kaiser Permanente was spending $150 per every
missed appointment in salaries and physicians’ time. To remind patients about their appointments, they tested
a program that included text message reminders to patients.
Results were extremely successful:
There were 1,800 fewer missed appointments equaling a 95% success rate.
$275,000 was saved at a single clinic alone and the initiative is now being rolled out nationwide.
MOBILE APPS: “Apps for Children with Special Needs” is a website run by Gary James, father of five, two with autism. Gary hosts video reviews of apps geared towards
children with special needs.
It’s so successful, companies with relevant apps are seeking Gary’s site out to promote their apps.
B2B MOBILE MARKETING:
ArthroCare – a medical device manufacturer -hired The Miller Group to generate buzz and traffic at their trade show booth during their largest trade show focused
on spine surgery: http://bit.ly/H4rgmj.
We developed a mobile campaign that digitized ArthroCare’s extensive library of product data and video
demonstrations. Surgeons downloaded professional papers, sales materials and videos to their PDAs via WiFi
portal, Bluetooth file exchange and QR codes.
And ArthroCare generated15% more leads than the previous year.
TWITTER IN THE O.R.
Social media channels have helped open up an area of healthcare previously only available to a select few: the
operating room. Henry Ford Hospital became one of the first hospitals to Tweet a live procedure from an operating room. Doctors,
medical students and personnel followed along as surgeons tweeted short updates on the kidney surgery
to remove a cancerous tumor.Twitter can also help healthcare organizations attract
new patients and recruit medical personnel.
