Traditions

• Healing prayers may be offered for oneself or for others who are in need of healing: physical, emotional, or spiritual healing.

• It can be an individual action or a group action.

CHRISTIAN PRAYER

• “Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggle I am experiencing -- the pain and the despair. You know the desire of my heart to be healed of this illness. I ask now for Your healing touch. I know that You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal me.

“I also understand that You will chose what is best for me. I pray that through this trial, I will draw close to You -- that You will be my comfort and strength. I pray that ultimately, whatever happens, You will be glorified through me. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen.”

• Almighty and merciful Father, by the power of your command, drive away from me all forms of sickness and disease. Restore strength to my body and joy to my spirit, so that in my renewed health, I may bless and serve you, now and forevermore.

• O Father of mercies and God of all comfort, our only help in time of need: We humbly beseech you to behold, visit and relieve Your sick servant for whom our prayers are desired. Look upon him with the eyes of Your mercy; comfort him with the sense of Your goodness; preserve him from the temptations of the enemy; and give him patience under his affliction. In Your good time, restore him to health, and enable him to lead the residue of his life in Your fear, and to Your glory; and grant that finally he may dwell with You in life everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

• Dear LORD, Be my redeemer, my internal teacher, my divine physician. Thank You for your presence in my life. I surrender to You all I am, all I think, all I feel, and all I have. I recognize in this moment that Yours is the power to heal and make whole. You who have the power to work miracles, you who rule time and space, please take me in Your arms and hold me. Dear Lord, please lift me up and heal me. – Cast out of my mind all thoughts that are not of You.

Cast out of me all harsh and critical nature. Cast out of me all violence and all anger. Cast out of me all demons from my past.

• For I would be made new. I wish to walk so close to You that we might be as one. I ask for new life, new mind, new body, new spirit. Dear LORD, please come into me and release me from this pain. Amen.

JEWISH PRAYER

• May the One who blessed our ancestors -- Patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Matriarchs Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah -- bless and heal the one who is ill: _________ son/daughter of ________ . May the Holy Blessed One overflow with compassion upon him/her, to restore him/her, to heal him/her, to strengthen him/her, to enliven him/her. The One will send him/her, speedily, a complete healing -- healing of the soul and healing of the body -- along with all the ill, among the people of Israel and all humankind, soon, speedily, without delay, and let us all say: Amen!

• You are mighty, Lord, who brings healing to the sick, You are great in granting salvation, providing the living with sustenance, with lovingkindness, caring for the sick with great mercies, supporting the fallen, healing the sick, releasing the captive, and keeping faith with those who are lost among the living, Who is like you, Master of mighty acts, and who compares to you, King who restores health, and causes salvation to sprout, You who are faithful, comforting the ill among us, Blessed are You, Lord who heals the sick.

MUSLIM PRAYER

For oneself & for others

• O Allah, keep me alive so long as it is in my best interest and give me death when it is in my best interest.

• ‘I ask Allaah The Supreme, Lord of the magnificent throne to cure you’.

To cure pain

• ‘Place your hand at the site of the pain and say: (i)

‘In the name of Allaah’ (three times) …then supplicate seven times: (ii)

‘I take refuge with Allaah and within His omnipotence from the evil that I feel and am wary of

HINDU PRAYER

• May everybody be happy. May everybody be free from disease. May everybody have good luck. May none fall on evil days.

• Om is the best sound of all the Vedas. It arose from the nectarine essence of the Vedas. May Indra grant me intelligence. May I hold the immortal teaching in my mind. May my body be strong. May my speech be sweet. May I hear a lot of wisdom. O Om, you are the receptacle of the Supreme Truth. Remove the worldly intelligence that is obstructing my knowledge of you!

BUDDHIST PRAYER

• Just as the soft rains fill the streams, pour into the rivers and join together in the oceans, so may the power of every moment of your goodness flow forth to awaken and heal all beings, Those here now, those gone before, those yet to come.

• By the power of every moment of your goodness May your heart's wishes be soon fulfilled as completely shining as the bright full moon, as magically as by a wish-fulfilling gem.

• By the power of every moment of your goodness May all dangers be averted and all disease be gone. May no obstacle come across your way. May you enjoy fulfillment and long life.

Thy Name Is My Healing

• Thy name is my healing, oh my God, and remembrance of Thee is my remedy. Nearness to Thee is my hope and love for Thee is my companion. Thy mercy to me is my healing and my succor in both this world and the world to come. Thou, verily, are the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

• Glory be to Thee, O Lord my God! I implore Thee by Thy Name, through which Thou didst lift up the ensigns of Thy guidance, and didst shed the radiance of Thy loving-kindness, and didst reveal the sovereignty of Thy Lordship; through which the lamp of Thy names hath appeared within the niche of Thine attributes, and He Who is the Tabernacle of Thy unity and the Manifestation of detachment hath shone forth; through which the ways of Thy guidance were made known, and the paths of Thy good pleasure were marked out; though which the foundations of error have been made to tremble, and the signs of wickedness have been abolished; through which the fountains of wisdom have burst forth, and the heavenly table hath been sent down; through which Thou didst preserve Thy servants and didst vouchsafe Thy healing; through which Thou didst show forth Thy tender mercies unto Thy servants and revealedst Thy forgiveness amidst Thy creatures. NONDENOMINATIONAL PRAYER

• Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise. I praise you, mighty Father. You forgive all my iniquities, and you heal all my diseases. Thank you, Lord. When I am sick, you send your Word, and it heals me and delivers me from all destructions. Your Word is life to me, and it brings healing to my flesh. Thank you for the healing power of your Word, Father. I will never let it depart from my eyes. I will keep your Word deeply implanted within my heart. Praise your name, holy Father. I love you, and I thank you for healing me and keeping me in good health.
