Overview of the Sarada Block •HEADS focuses the majority of it’s work in 107 villages covering 28 Panchayats in the Sarada block of Udaipur, in Southern Rajasthan

•The land is mountainous and rocky, making agriculture and transportation difficult. Houses are scattered, and landholdings small.

•The area is dominated by tribals, and has a shortage of health and education facilities, as well as basic necessities like drinking water.

•Migration is common, especially to the nearby cities of Ahemdabad, Ahemadnagar, and Surat.

HEADS’ Primary Activities • Community Mobilization & Development

▫Raising awareness about development programs, identifying their shortcomings, and providing people the opportunity to reap the full benefits of development programs through community mobilization and training.

▫Promoting microfinance so that people can create micro-enterprises, resulting in sustainable livelihoods.

▫Advancing sustainable agricultural practices and livestock management.

▫Offering guidance and career counseling to students and the unemployed.

▫Providing skill-training to women and adolescents to increase their chances of employment.

▫Encouraging entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for small enterprises.

HEADS Primary Activities •Organizational Development

▫Teaching bookkeeping, financial management, and office management.

▫Providing input for improving legal and technical systems of the organizations (FCRA, IT, etc.).

▫Providing support in project planning, formulation, implementation and report writing.

▫Strengthening Gram Panchayats and encouraging them to develop their “ideal village”
