To maintain lake levels and water quality for swimming, 206,000 cubic metres of potable water is pumped into the lake each summer. Swimming beach has been occasionally closed during the summer due to poor water quality. Park sits within a peaty/boggy area, which contributes to unpredictable ground movement, causing depressions, heaving, dips and bulges.
