ABSTRACT

Setianingsih, Erna Wahyu. 2013. “The Productive Vocabulary between Male and

Female Students of The Eighth Grade Students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus

in The Academic Year 2012/2013”.Skripsi.English Education

Department, Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Muria Kudus

University. Advisor: (i) Nuraeningsih, S.Pd, M.Pd, (ii)

DiahKurniati, S.Pd, M.Pd,

Key words: Productive Vocabulary, Male Students, Female Students

The writer had an inspiration when she got PPL Program in SMP 2 Bae

Kudus from her faculty. She had an interesting problem to be observed, when

taught eighth grade students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus. Male and female students are

students who study in SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013. The

writer found attitude of male students go out from classroom when lessons are

over or when the teacher leave to the office, the students always make noise in the

class, often forget to bring worksheet, sleep in the class when they are bored with

the lesson or asking permission to go to toilet. While female students have good

attitude such as more polite than male, bring the lesson book, diligent, active in

class when they do not understand about the materials. When teacher gives a test

to students, the average score of their score is 7, 5 to male and 7, 8 to female, so

the score is not far different. The writer wants to recheck whether there is any

significance difference of productive vocabulary between male and female

students of the Eighth Grade Students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the academic year

2012/2013.

The objective of this research is to find out the significant different of

productive vocabulary between male and female students of the Eighth Grade

Students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013.

The design of this research is ex post facto research. The population of

this research is all of eighth grade students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the academic

year 2012/2013 and the sample is VIII H by using cluster random sampling. The

writer constructs two tests in this research, they are; writing and speaking test.

The result of those tests was used to know the significant difference of productive

vocabulary between male and female students of the eighth grade students of

SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the academic year 2012/2013.

The result shows that in level of significance 0.05 and degree of freedom

22, there is a difference but not significant of productive vocabulary between

male and female students of the eighth grade students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus in the

academic year 2012/2013. It is shown from the calculation result t-obtained is

2.092, meanwhile t-table is 2.074. It means that the null hypothesis is rejected and

the alternative hypothesis is accepted ( = 2.092 > t-table = 2.074). The

productive vocabulary of female students is sufficient (Mean = 72.83 and SD =

6.05) and the productive vocabulary of female students is good (Mean = 78.27

and SD = 4.72). Based on the fact above, it proves that the productive vocabulary

between male and female students of the eighth grade students of SMP 2 Bae

xi

kudus in the academic year 2012/2013 is different. The conclusion is that the

productive vocabulary of female students is better than the productive vocabulary

of male students of the eighth grade students of SMP 2 Bae Kudus in Academic

Year 2012/2013.

Based on the result above, the writer would like to give suggestion as;(1) before measuring the students’ vocabulary ability, a teacher has to know how students

interested in English, especially for vocabulary, (2) students should write what

students like and try to speak English with English teacher to increase their

vocabulary mastery., (3) the further researcher are suggested to develop this research

to be more specific or increase this research in other field of the research.

ABSTRAK

Setianingsih, Erna Wahyu. 2013.“Kosakata Produktif antara Siswa Laki-laki dan

Siswa Perempuan dari Siswa Kelas Delapan SMP 2 Bae Kudus

pada Tahun Ajaran 2012/2013”.Skripsi.Program Studi Pendidikan

Key words: Kosakata Produktif, Siswa Laki-laki, Siswa Perempuan

Penulis mendapatkan inspirasi ketika ia melakukan Program PPL di SMP

2 Bae Kudus dari fakultasnya. Dia memiliki masalah yang menarik untuk diamati,

ketika mengajar siswa kelas delapan SMP 2 Bae Kudus.

diterima. (t-obtained = 2.092> t-table =2.074). Kosakata produktif dari siswa laki-laki

hasilnya termasuk cukup (Mean = 72.83 and SD = 6.05) dan kosakata produktif dari

siswa perempuan hasilnya termasuk bagus(Mean = 78.27 and SD = 4.72). Berdasarkan hasil di atas, ini membuktikan bahwa kosakata produktif antara siswa laki-

xiii

laki dan siswa perempuan dari kelas delapan SMP 2 Bae Kudus pada tahun akademik

2012/2013 berbeda. Kesimpulannya adalah kosakata produktif dari siswa perempuan

lebih baik dari pada kosakata siawa laki-laki dari kelas delapan SMP 2 Bae Kudus pada

tahun akademik 2012/2013. Berdasarkan hasil diatas, penulis ingin memberikan saran sebagai berikut;
