    Dear Friend:

Thank you for your recent inquiry regarding school enrollment. We feel there is nogreater investment than in a childs training for a productive, righteous lifestyle. AtHampden DuBose Academy we join with parents in their commitment to educate theirchildren in a manner that builds both Christian character and sound scholarship.

Nestled among sprawling woods in northwest Zellwood, the campus draws fromsurrounding communities diverse in interests. Protected from metropolitan busyness andtraffic sounds, children find a haven of peace for romping among trees, chasing balls, and playing tag. The only noise is that of birds singing, of squirrels chattering, ofchildren laughing, and of youth chatting. Within the walls of the Spanish style buildings, all are challenged to master the basic skills for successful and productive lives. Fromthe kindergarten children practicing phonics sounds and blends to the high schoolstudents reasoning through profound ideas, everyone is receiving all that series ofinstruction and discipline which is intended to enlighten the understanding, correct thetemper, and form the manners and habits[to] fit them for usefulness in their futurestations (Websters 1828 Dictionary).

We invite you to read through the enclosed materials, visit the campus, and talk with ourstaff as you consider the important decision of where and how your child will be trained. If you need additional information or assistance with the application process, please callthe school office at 407-880-4321.

    Sincerely,

    Michael E. JacksonSchool Administrator

Hampden DuBose Academy and Legacy High School

Hampden DuBose Academy and Legacy High School is the result of a God-givenvision, for its principles and standards are those of the pattern shewed in the

mount to Dr. and Mrs. Pierre W. DuBose. Founded on divine vision, it is carriedon with fresh vision from the Lord day by daya near vision of the needs ofeach individual studenta far vision of a life controlled by Christ whether it be inteaching or preaching, business, law, medicine, etc.

As Paul wrote, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, so Dr. and Mrs.DuBose sought to carry out the vision God had given them. After much prayerand searching of Scripture, together with reading the lives and words of otherswho had stepped out on the promises of God and found them true, theyestablished Hampden DuBose Academy. The new school was named in honor of

Dr. DuBose father, Dr. Hampden Coit DuBose, a pioneer missionary to China, whose biography is written in a book, For the Glory of God. The purpose then,as now, was not simply to give the very best primary and secondary educationpossible, but to show the faithfulness of God in meeting every need of each life.

From 1934 until 1980 Hampden DuBose Academy was a Christian boardingschool with students from around the worldchildren of missionaries, Christianleaders, and other Christian parents who wished a Christ-centered education fortheir children. The Academy was never closed nor its principles changed, but in1980 the boarding school became a Christian day school with kindergartenthrough eighth grade. Soon a pre-kindergarten was formed, and in 1996 a high

school was added. Named Legacy, it related the foundation principles of thehigh school boarding school to the day school. The year 2000 marked the firstgraduating class of the day school.

Education assumes its proper perspective when Proverbs 1:7 is heeded, the fearof the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. The vision producing keen, sharpinstruments for the Lord motivates the scholastic training at the Academy, andthe work in the classroom assumes new meaning when it is based uponprinciples of the Word of God.

The ultimate purpose of Hampden DuBose Academy from its inception in 1934 tothe current year is given in the words inscribed on its seal: Mihi vivere estChristusFor to me to live is Christ. This is the only reason for the existence ofthe school and the desire of each of its leaders, its board, faculty and staff, andtheir prayer for every student who attends. Founded on the Word of God,Hampden DuBose Academy and Legacy High School seeks always to honor theLord Jesus Christ, Holding forth the Word of life Philippians 2:16.

    Statement of Faith

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word of God.Therefore, it is our sole norm of faith and practice.

We believe that God is spirit, infinite, personal, eternal, and unchangeable in Hisbeing, wisdom, power, holiness, justice, grace, goodness, and truth.

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.

We believe Jesus was physically resurrected to purchase a place in Heaven forus which He offers as a free gift, providing the only way of salvation for all men.

We believe in the Trinity consisting of three personsFather, Son, and Holy

    Spiritin one God.

We believe that God created man in His own image and in a state of innocence, but that through temptation man willfully transgressed. As a result, all humanbeings are born with a sinful nature and the wages for this sin is death.

We believe in the church, the body of Christ, whose mission is to preach thegospel to all the world.

We believe that a true believer is secure in Christ forever and is called to live aholy life.

We believe that the ordinances of the church are important and vary from onedenomination to another. We respect the right of personal differences inobservation.

We believe in the imminent return of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We believe that those who are believers shall be forever in the presence of Godand those who have rejected Christ will be separated from God forever.

In addition to these important beliefs, we believe that God has given the parents

and the home the responsibility to bring up their children in the nurture andadmonition of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 22:6). We believe that aconsistent and whole education will occur when home, church, and school workclosely together and are in agreement on the basic concepts of life.
