Estimated savings during trial period Oct 2012 – June 2019‒ 14 000 truck passages through Sölvesborg
‒ 201 000 liters of diesel
‒ 562 tons of carbon dioxide emissions (assumed mk1 diesel)
Economy‒ Theoretical calculations (for each year): savings with HCT, 10-17%
‒ Port of Sölvesborgs estimations: savings with HCT, ~12% since the start

Estimated savings during trial period Dec 2014 – Feb 2018‒ 130 truck passages through Sölvesborg
‒ 14 000 liters of diesel
‒ 39 tons of carbon dioxide emissions (assumed mk1 diesel)
Economy‒ Theoretical calculations (for each year): savings with HCT, 4-7%
‒ Difficulties in finding enough freight volumes and suitable logistic arrangements
during the last six month. The HCT trials ended in 2018.

Estimated savings during trial period Aug 2015 – Sep 2018‒ 2 200 truck passages through Sölvesborg
‒ 6 000 liters of diesel
‒ 18 tons of carbon dioxide emissions (assumed mk1 diesel)
Economy‒ Theoretical calculations: 1% higher costs with HCT in this case, due to
‒ Less fuel savings than other trials due to more idling and short trips
‒ Loading- and unloading times longer with HCT (+ 20 minutes), due to the load securing system
‒ In practice‒ Fixed costs, mainly from the stationary crane at the port, were too high
‒ A more large-scale logistic solution would be needed to make it economically sustainable
‒ The trials ended in September 2018 due to commercial reasons

CONCLUSIONS
16
ECT
”Ett Coil Till”
Fuel consumption‒ Increases per kilometer with more payload but decreases per ton kilometer‒ A 10-15% decrease in fuel consumption can be expected with + 10 tons maximum weight (64 74 tons)
The three trials combined have saved an estimated‒ 16 000 truck passages through Sölvesborg‒ 220 000 liters of fuel‒ 620 tons of CO2-emissions
Economy‒ Good possibilities for financial gains with HCT, but it depends on the logistic arrangement as a whole
Traffic safety ‒ The vehicle safety is not affected by the heavier payload‒ Fewer trips means less vehicles on the road, which is positive for traffic safety in general
Work environment are not affected by the heavier payload
No extra vehicle wear has been detected within the HCT trials
